The timing corresponded directly with when we stopped nursing though. No actual sucking like what you described though. WHAT?! So I've noticed starting this fall he'd put his fingers in his mouth (like the tips of a few fingers at a time) when he was upset. I discouraged it by redirecting him, offering a tissue to clean his hands, and/or asking him why he was doing that (often was because so-and-so does it).</p> <p>More recently I've caught him full on sucking his thumb. Today he was doing it when he was having a meltdown but on Friday he was doing it just as we drove home and he was looking at Christmas lights in the window.</p> <p>Anyone else have experience with a child deciding to suck their thumb way older? Also worth mentioning that he was never a thumb sucker or paci child. </p>
