Vaccines are not 100 percent safe and will never be -- it's all about risk/benefit analysis. But listening to anything this woman has said about vaccines is 100 percent dangerous. Not only is she completely unqualified to discuss medical matters, but she also refuses to recant anything she's said, even in the face of hard facts. I would agree that anyone who makes a decision about vaccines based only on what Jenny McCarthy says is an idiot, but that doesn't change the fact that people ARE doing that, and it's putting lives at risk. Even with the media attention this story is likely to receive, there will still be a plethora of parents who link vaccines to autism, and sinilar developmemtal disorders and delays. I don't have a baby (just yet), but we've already spent a lot of time researching &amp; learning about vaccines.</p> <p>I think it's in poor taste to make memes about it, though. I mean, if it was a RARE condition he has (with all of the signs of autism), then it's not too far off base to assume he had autism in the beginning, right? </p> <p>I think most of us would be advocates for our children, no matter what, so I guess I don't really blame her. </p> <p>There are many people who hear "Jenny McCarthy", "autism", "vaccine", "bad", and base their decision to not vaccinate on JUST that. I think anyone who makes big decisions based on doing NO research is an idiot. No matter what you believe, you better have a LOT of reason behind it, especially when it comes to your babies!</p> <p>I wish people did more research ... I wish vaccines were 100% safe ... I wish everyone had a pediatrician who respects little bodies (in regards to vaccines). I think that would help calm a lot of this vaccine hysteria!
