I have one too....I actually only found this out a couple years ago. My OBs before never mentioned it--I found out when I had my first pap with a new Dr. I can't imagine it creates any issue though---my new OB hasn't said anything about it and I didn't have trouble conceiving right away so I'm not concerned.

I did read something a while back though that typically as the pregnancy progresses the uterus repositions and is less tilted.

I have one! I don't know anything about it--I'm not pregnant and don't have kids. But when I got my IUD, they told me I had the retroverted uterus.

Thanks! So my husband and I talked about it last night (he's a doc, but not OB) and he was like "do not worry about that at all. it's not a big deal at all." I feel better.

I was told by one osteopathic OB/GYN that I have one but it NEVER came up during my pregnancy... at least not that I remember. So I'm guessing if I do it's not that big of a deal. :)

I have/had one too. I was told by my midwife pretty much exactly what anewme said...but she also added that she didn't believe the trouble conceiving connection because she has one and has 3 kids :)

@ Anewme - thanks : )

I was reading that it could make conception more difficult too. I guess my biggest concern is miscarrage, since I've had one and of course that worries me always. But, the midwife also mentioned that my cervix was quite high and closed and everything else looked good. So I guess that's good.

I have a tilted uterus, known medically as a retroverted uterus. I was told this when I changed OBs a few months after I got married. The doctor also mentioned it in passing, while I was freaking out. He told me that it was not really a big deal, some research says that it makes conception just a little harder because of the positioning of the cervix to allow sperm to enter. But mostly, it's just like some people being left handed and the rest being right handed. During pregnancy, the uterus winds up righting itself to the normal upright forward position.

In more serious cases, it could be signs of certain women's health issues such as PID, endometriosis, etc.

Anyone have one? How did it affect your pregnancy? Getting pregnant?

I am 8 weeks, 5 days along and at my midwife appt today, my midwife mentioned in passing that I had one...something I had never heard by any GYN before. She only mentioned it because she tried to listen for the heartbeat with the doppler and couldn't find it - she mentioned that (1) it was still probably way to early to hear the heartbeat on the doppler and (2) because my uterus is tilted the baby could be hiding behind...?

But by then I had been at the office for 2 hours, was tired, and had just gotten a lot of information and FAILED to ask follow-up questions. I e-mailed my midwife asking questions about this, but haven't heard anything back yet. In the meantime, I thought I would reach out and see if any others have experience with this. Dr. Google says it's not a big deal 20-30% of women have this variation, etc.

Thanks : )
