1. I'm working on spending as much quality time with DD as I can, as I've only got 4 months left with just her. No phone or distractions, just getting as much time with her as I can.

2. Menu planning, and making things ahead so I have more time at night to enjoy my family that is not spent in kitchen.

3. Focusing on quality conversation with DH, we get in ruts and I would rather have good discussions instead of spending our hour we have a night together watching TV.

4. Work...well not much I can do now, but I've decided a change needs to be made in 2015.

@Greentea: well, it kinda stayed crappy cause the piltes class filled before I got there, but lo loved the childcare so that was awesome. And I signed up for strength training on Wednesday.
Super congrats on your discipline! I am starting to think mine left me with the placenta, lol.

@lizzywiz: good job! I didn't end up joining mine, but I did start doing the elliptical in my gym room, just 20 minutes 3 times a week. Not a whole lot, but something is better than nothing, right? And this is my third week sticking to it! That's pretty good for me! Sorry about your crappy day btw- sounds like a healthy way to deal with it (Pilates).

@LovelyPlum: just found this and thought I would ask how it's going? You are much more positive at 6 months than I was!

My big change is I joined a gym w/ childcare and will leave LO there tonight for the first time while I pilates the crap outta myself for the first time in 2 years.

Now that I'm coming out of the first trimester, I want to focus on feeding myself and this baby better. You know, when i get home from my work trip, hehe.

I just started a new job so that's been a positive life change for me. Now i just have to start digging into it.

Thanks for the support, ladies. It feels good to be working towards something.

@lemondrop: thank you :) I support the "get shit organized" concept. We're doing that, too. Clutter is not my friend. Also, I am super glad to hear that about DTD. Truth be told, I really didn't like it much before. Guess it can only get better :)

@sorrycharlie: dude, I totally, totally hear you on the declutter the house. Rearranging furniture is my ultimate catharsis. Good luck with it! Feels good to free up physical and emotional baggage! I also need to work on not being so snappy with my poor pup. She usually takes the brunt of my grump.

@jhd: you can do it, lady! Proud of you for taking care of yourself-you deserve it, after all you guys have been through. And I'm sorry that you're having a hard time leaving T. Could she take him while you're at the gym? That way, it's two birds with one stone!

@Kimberlybee: your list sounds awesome. All totally manageable!

@Boheme: thank you! I'm super impressed with everything you've been able to do, as well. And I hear you about making our house a home. As long as we've been married, we've never lived in the same city for more than 2 years before this. We're now into year 3, and I'm finally feeling like we can call it home!

@loveisstrange: I absolutely  everything you said. Self-compassion is the key to everything!

@Greentea: always is right! Good on you, lady :)

Good for you! Glad you have reached that 6 month survival point! I was in a total fog the first time for about 6 months. I started to feel really human again after the first birthday. It has been much easier the second time around.

You hit me on a good month- October was my "get shit organized for work" month, while I'm nowhere near done, I'm in a much better place lately. I'm trying to avoid knee jerk reactions and move into planning ahead.

November and December will be my "get shit organized around the house" months. I'm also working on getting my butt back to the gym again once I survive finals in two weeks. I don't really have any weight loss goals since I'm still nursing, more I just want to have my clothes fit a little better

If it makes you feel any better- #3 was not nearly as scary as I had built up in my head. It actually has been even better for me after having kids than before!

your list sounds great!!

I feel like I need to declutter my house before I can declutter my mind. as weird as that sounds. so I've been going nuts nesting and cleaning..

I need to work on not being so snappy with DH. Unfortunately, by the time he gets home, my patience is barely there and he gets the brunt of my frustration!

Good for you! I especially love your #6. It's so easy to be trying to capture the perfect pic and not really enjoying the firsts. Thanks for that reminder.

I am having a hard time leaving LO. We live 20 min from my parents and I need to let my mom watch him once in a while. She is wonderful and they always have a great time together.

I joined a gym and so far went twice last week and once this week. I'm starting small with just 30 min on the elliptical but hoping I can take advantage of group exercise classes. I have been taking LO on long walks in the stroller, but walking is not doing anything to help the baby weight come off. Or at least that's how it feels. I'm hoping at least a few good workouts at the gym per week will get the scale moving downwards again! I'm already eating well and tracking with my fitness pal.

Your list sounds great! Good luck on all of your goals. My immediate goals are:

1) cooking more and better meal planning
2) adding in exercise
3) less impulse shopping
4) less iPhone and iPhone usage while DD is awake.

For me, its all about mental changes. Ive really been working on becoming more centered and learning self-compassion. I have this amazing professor right now who is a buddhist monk and she has really taught me a lot about this in the past couple months. I feel like putting that building block into place has the potential to positively impact the rest of my life (my marriage, how I parent, etc). Im working from the ground up, so to speak. I want to be more aware of who I am and more accepting of myself before I focus on anything else.

Id really love to lose weight, but I feel like I need to love myself first. I just watched a good friend descend into near anorexia to lose weight and it's destroyed so much of her life. I want to be able to love myself through the whole journey and do it in the most positive way possible.

I am going to join a gym with a daycare and start there. Twice a week, DH will study outside the daycare for a couple hours while I swim. (I broke my foot !) That's where I am going to start!

I have decided that it is time for some positive life changes. LO is 6 months old, we are finally out of the itty bitty newborn fog, and the rest of my life demands it. So here we go.

This is what I am doing:

1. Get my work life together. Seriously. It has been a good 9 months since it's gotten my full attention, and it is time to get back on the horse. It is my comprehensive exam year, and I have to, have to, have to give it my full attention, starting now.

2. Exercise. I've lost 40 of the 60 pounds I gained during pregnancy, but I know I will feel better if I am actively working to up my level of physical fitness. In that spirit, I just came back from a run :) I think I might try for a Turkey Trot. Go big or go home, right?

3. Rekindle my marriage. There has been no sex here for who knows how long (at least 6 months? longer?). That's not fair to anyone. I bought lube today. I'm scared, but it's time to try.

4. Put down the technology when baby is awake. Enough said.

5. Establish a new norm for household balance. DH and I have started talking about this. We're a long way away, but it's a goal.

6. Stop obsessing over LO's "firsts." I am spending so much mental energy trying to make them memorable that I'm missing them myself. It doesn't matter if I have a picture of every little thing. It's more important that I am present emotionally for it. And besides, most firsts aren't actually that great. The first time I rode a bike, I fell. But slowly, gradually, on a day I don't even remember, I grew into being able to do it. This is the attitude that I want to have with her. This first year is just that: the first of hopefully many years. It's OK if it's not out of a magazine. It's not OK if I'm not emotionally present for it.

Things we are already doing:

1. YNAB :) It's been amazing. I'm not a millionaire yet, but it is slowly changing my attitude about money. And weekly budget meetings help a LOT.

2. Weekly calendar meetings with DH and I to review what's going on for the week.

3. Meal planning-lite. I say lite because week-long meal plans have never worked for us. We're loving planning a few days out, though!

******

Phew, that was long. Are you making any life changes lately?
