@Hanasu: I'm a few days shy of 8 weeks. LO is 13.5 months old. I heard about milk changing between 4-6 months.. hoping I have a few more good months left!

@chopsuey119: how far along are you? My daughter weaned herself at 17 months when I was 3 months pregnant. I've heard that it's normal for a toddler to wean when you're pregnant, I guess your milk changes.

Wow! Awesome cover. Haha.
I was planning on nursing until LO is 18 months old, but I'm conflicted. I'm feeling some pressure to wean since I'm pregnant with #2. I'd actually like to tandem nurse if possible.. but we'll see!
I personally think it's a bit much to nurse past the age of 2, but I think it's definitely up to mommy and baby/toddler to decide when it's time to wean.

I think @coco bee posted this earlier, but it might've gotten lost. I think? I read it quickly. I feel like Time used that photo for shock value. While I personally wouldn't breastfeed past a year, it's not up for me to judge what others choose to do :)

I agree with you that the two extreme sides of the issue will be out in force. From my perspective I'm cool with extended breastfeeding (I'd probably start to find it odd around 3 or so personally) but I'm okay with those that choose a much shorter amount of time if at all. I wasn't quite able to breastfeed up to my 1 year goal (due to supply issues, not desire) but I've accepted that. I read the Q&A with the mom on the cover of Time as well as the article on how common extended breastfeeding is and I find it interesting that the articles seem to imply that it is a foregone conclusion that attachment parenting must include extended breastfeeding. I generally subscribe to attachment parenting methodology but I never felt like it had to include extended breastfeeding. Maybe I'm reading into something that isn't there but in general, the different parenting methodologies don't have to be all or nothing. I personally feel they should be fit-for-purpose and an individual family's needs.
