@Jess1483: He had a month or so of 1 hour naps, we waited it out and it lengthened again after a growth spurt I think he was going through at the time. His bedtime as been 830...and even as late as 9/930 with the whole time change this month on a few days... I noticed he sleeps better at night and at nap with the later bedtime! FX he comes back to his normal nap soon! We need to hold onto that nap for as long as possible with nbs on the way! :P

@Jess1483: ok, seeing as he only naps 1 hour that changes my mind a bit...I hate late bedtimes too (I need some me-time!) How is his mood with no nap? I would maybe try the 8pm bedtime for awhile, esp with DST just happened, and see how that goes, but if he still continues to fight sleep at bedtime I might consider cutting nap. I don't think an hour nap is worth fighting bedtime for 2 hours.

27 months and this is exactly us!!! I can't let her nap more than an hour. I need to start her nap earlier than our usual 1:30 pm but if I do that we wouldn't be able to get anything done in the morning before eating lunch. Then we start her routine around 7;15 pm but she won't fall asleep until between 8:30-9 pm. She wakes up around 7:15 am in mornings. She falls asleep for her naps super easily!!! But bedtime takes ages! So sick of that, waiting in her room with her to fall asleep. But I still think she needs a nap but needs more night time sleep too. Argh....

@mrsjyw: LO's night sleep has always been really influenced by his nap. I've had to limit his nap since about 15 months to no more than an hour in order to get him to 10-11 hours of night sleep. Even a few minutes over and he usually wakes early. I so wish I got 1.5-2 hours a day to myself!

I would try pushing bed time back.

Ds is 27 months and he's been sleeping 8/830 - 8 and napping 1.5-2+ hours midday. Usually 5 hour wake times.

@Katrocap: Yeah. It seems so early to drop nap completely. I really treasure that hour... On the other hand, if his nap is cutting more than an hour off his night sleep, it may be best for him to just get it all at night. Here's hoping it's a phase for both boys!

@jess1483: DS is 26 months and we are in the EXACT same boat. No advice here, just hoping that both of our boys get back to good nap/nighttime sleeping!

@NovBaby1112: Thanks. That's probably the way we'll go, but we already have such little time to ourselves in the evening before I drag my tired, pregnant self to bed. But it's better than staring at the baby monitor feeling guilty!

I do wonder if some of it is adjustment to DST. He's been sick all week before this, so I'm not sure he's really used to the time change. 7:30 was working so beautifully until now!

I say move bedtime back a bit. 7:30 is pretty early at that age, especially if he takes a nap. I would aim for 8:30 and see if that helps!

My 28 month-old is awesome at going to bed. He goes down easily by himself and entertains himself before falling asleep. However, last night and again tonight, it's taken him 2+ hours to fall asleep at night. He is still waking around the same time in the morning (this results in about 9-10 hours of sleep/night). I limit his nap to an hour (and actually limited it to 45 minutes today), but he always goes down within 5-10 minutes for nap and is difficult to wake. (He also gives tired signs at night, rubs eyes, etc.)

So, here are my options:
1. Wait it out. Give it a week and see if it's a fluke. (I feel so bad with him in there for two hours alone, but if it's a short phase, I can handle it).
2. Move bedtime back a bit (from 7:30 to 8 or 8:15)
3. Try skipping nap and seeing if that improves nighttime sleep (I hesitate because I do think he still needs a nap and because LO2 is on his way in a couple of months and I was really hoping for a couple minutes to myself during the day...but that's probably a pipe dream anyway).

Thanks!

ETA: Before the last two nights, it generally takes him 10-30 minutes to fall asleep at night on his own.
