Agree you should wait, at 8 weeks it's perfectly normal for a baby to feed every three hours. And it's seems to be the case that as soon as you think you have a routine established they go and change everything, at such a young age nothing is settled yet but he will continue to change his sleeping patterns.

I agree with @prettylizy. 8 weeks is too early to expect any type of schedule and consistency with sleep. She is waking up out if her newborn sleepiness and discovering the world around her!

i don't think it's too early to start teaching healthy sleep habits and providing her with ample opportunities to sleep though. For the first 6 weeks I would tote LO around everywhere and knew he'd fall asleep if he needed to. Around 8-9 weeks I would actively work on getting him to nap and being at home so he could nap in his crib because he was less likely to fall asleep on the go.

8 weeks seems really early to sleep train - I feel like they are still figuring out day/night sleep. I bet it will get better soon!

I don't think it's too early to institute a bedtime routine though - we didn't start one until like 14 weeks and I wish we had started sooner : )

I woulnd't worry about sleep training this early. IMO at 8 weeks they aren't ready to be forced into sleep if they are crying/fussing there is a reason. I would say he is probably in a growth spurt and this too shall pass.

So my LO turns 8 weeks tomorrow. Previously he had his own little schedule and started sleeping for longer periods at night. However, the last two days he has been fighting his naps. Which turned into him waking up every 3 hours to eat at night again. I feel like we went backwards! I read that around this time there could be a growth spurt and a wonder week which causes them to fight naps. I was wondering if I should wait it out to see if he'll go back to his own schedule or start sleep training now? We've been holding him so he can stay asleep for naps OR putting him in the swing. I just don't want to build bad habits but if this is just a phase I rather not make him CIO during his "growing" phase. What would you guys do? By the way, he doesn't fight going down again at night after his feedings!
