@Andrea: thank you! I'll try that first before I consolidate as we're just getting used to him actually sleeping on his own again.

I'm with @Mrs. Bee: I would wake him up after an hour from the morning nap to make sure that he is tired in the afternoon and hopefully sleep longer than one hour.

@Mrs. Bee: I may try to wake him up after an hour or consolidate the naps, but I'm a little concerned because it's only been a full week that he's been on this new nap schedule after he's been sleep trained. Maybe it's too soon to switch the game plan on him? I'm not sure. He also is wide awake at 4:30 am so not sure how late he could possibly resist napping later than 9.

@MamaBehr: i agree, maybe this is the direction we need to take but unsure of an optimal time. I guess, I'll have to do some trial and error with him.

Liam is 13 months and does best with one longer nap in the middle of the day.

Ugh, I'm right there with you! Except, we often skip the morning nap (because we are out), and so he falls asleep for a little bit in the car and FREAKS out when I wake him up at home. I have been putting him down earlier in the afternoon (he use to go down at 2) and that has helped a lot! He is napping a little longer now and doesn't fight the afternoon nap as much. I know my little guy is getting ready for one nap.

Perhaps trying to put him down later in the morning? thus trying to get the naps to a nap?

at that age i had to wake olive and charlie up from their morning nap so they were tired enough for their second nap. then he should be tired enough if you wake him up after an hour or so?

at that age they may slowly be transitioning to one nap.

My LO's gradual re-sleep training is finally paying off and now his sleep has greatly improved. He's 14 mos right now and takes 2 naps at 9 am and 1 pm. He usually doesn't sleep more than an hour for each; however, lately his morning naps seem to be about 2 hrs which throws off the timing of the second nap. Like today, he woke up at 11 am but putting him down again at 1 pm with only 2 hours of awake timed seemed silly, so I waited until 2 pm; however, he fought the second nap and cried himself to sleep at 3 pm. Do I go buy the clock or what time his last nap ended to put him down again?
