@travellingbee: Yeah I kind of laid him down awkwardly that time, so hard to get that bleary, sleep deprived, successful transfer done without waking baby :-) normally though he's in a sitting position but I didn't know that was the official way, so thanks :) and he's even more cute when awake!

@DesertDreams88: FYI you have him positioned so that his feet are down at the lowest point of the RNP, but really that's where his bottom can go. Like he's sitting in it. He shouldn't be anywhere close to being too long for it.
ETA oh I see in the second picture you have him with his bottom down, and he has lots of headroom in that picture.

We transitioned DS1 around two months for nighttime sleep and this guy is still sleeping in it for now.

We transitioned DD from RnP at night right before she turned 4 months. She then started rolling back to tummy 2 days after she turned 4 months. She was never a swaddle baby, but she loved the swaddle sleep sacks. We left the bottom of the sleep sack unzipped so we could use the straps. When transitioning to sleeping flat we would start the night in the crib then if she woke up she went back in the RnP. Then one night she just stayed asleep flat.

Fwiw, at nearly 7 months, DD still will nap in a RnP at daycare.

DD only slept in the RnP for naps but we switched her to the crib for naps around 6 weeks and she started sleeping so much better. And DD started rolling at 3.5 months and became a stomach sleeper at that point.

Around 10-12 weeks. We made a nest in the crib with rolled up towels under the crib sheet, to make LO feel more snug.

We transitioned DS when he was 8 weeks old. But now at 16 weeks, he is back in it because he's been really sick - he has rsv and bronchiolitis so lots of congestion and coughing. He's back in the RNP because his ped wants him to sleep elevated and he kept sliding down when we propped his crib mattress up. Rolling doesn't start until 4 months at the earliest and your little guy has lots of room to grow. I would keep him swaddled and try the pnp whenever you're ready. But yeah, he can stay in it for much longer if you want

ETA: the weight limit is 25 lbs and they don't even have a height limit. DS is almost 17# and is 26 inches and still fits with room to spare

LO is 5.5 wks old and sleeps in a RnP in our room. We plan to transition him at some point to a PnP in our room and keep him in that until he's 4-5 months for various reasons.

Anyway, I'm wondering when you would time the RnP transition. Factors:
- He is waking 2-3 times a night to feed, though usually that 3rd feed is taken care of by DH with a breastmilk bottle before he goes to work.
- He sleeps swaddled and can't roll over yet. When does that usually start?
- He will soon be too tall for the RnP, if hes not pushing it already. I included 2 pictures.
- I go back to work at 11 wks old.
- DH is home from work and my dad will be visiting the entire week he is 7 weeks old. So theoretically we could transfer him then, and any sleep loss for DH and I could be alleviated by Grandpa watching LO during the day?

LO takes at least one nap in the Pnp each day, but that's after being transferred from my arms or the bouncer. He sleeps fine once he's there.
