I set my alarm for an hour before the earliest wake up time for the week everyday. So I needed to be up at 6:30 to get ready for work but found I was in too light sleep when that alarm went off so set it for 5:30 and woke up and went back to sleep every day.

To accurately chart, you need yo temp not only when you first wake but at the same time each day. I also would set my alarm for my earliest waking day and then just go back to sleep right after temping on my days off. If your thermometer will store the temperature until later, you can record it some other time.

Starting in the middle of the cycle can make it hard to see your pattern, but you should b able to catch any temp changes next cycle if you keep going. If you really want to catch O, charting CM and sensation are also a good idea, because you can catch the buildup of fertility rather than just confirming ovulation likely occured with the temp.

I noticed a difference if I temped at different times like that. I kept the same alarm, temp, then go right back to sleep if I could. If I woke up during the night and had to pee, if it was within an hour or so of my normal time I would temp before getting up, otherwise I'd temp at my normal time even if it was only a few hours from that wake up. You have to play around and see what affects your body.

If I went out drinking (like anything two drinks or more) that would raise my temp a lot so I didn't bother getting up early those mornings.

I would stay at the same time especially if you are new to charting. Just set your alarm, temp, then go back to sleep.

@LindsayInNY: Maybe will try it out this cycle and see if my temps even make any sense! then adjust my waking times accordingly!

@mrs. 64: I actually have no idea when or if I'm O'ing. I'm on day CD45, and last month was 61 days! So who knows!!!

For the weekends I just keep my same alarm from the week and then go back to sleep. If I were you, I would temp at 5:30 every day and then keep sleeping on the days you can. I don't think it really matters if you start mid-cycle, though if you start after O you won't have that information on your chart. Once I got the hang of things I stopped temping the first week or so of my cycle until I knew I was getting close to O time.

I temp whenever I wake up. During the week it's usually between 5:30 and 6am, unless I wake up before my alarm goes off (like 5am or something). Then I temp then. On the weekends, I usually wake up once and fall back asleep. So I temp whenever I first wake up and then go back to sleep. I usually don't notice a *huge* difference...

Newb charter here as well. Posting to follow. I've been trying to temp around the same time when I naturally wake up to pee (around 4-5 give or take). Temps have been lower than what's considered normal (96s) so hoping that's not a big deal...

So when temping properly, I know it's important to temp at the same time everyday right when you wake up. Well what do you ladies do like on the weekends or other days that you "sleep in"

Also is it important to temp at the exact same time of day everyday? For example I wake up at 7 Mon-Wed and 5:30 Thurs-Sat, and Sunday I normally sleep in till about 9. Do those few hours make a difference even if I temp right away first thing in the morning when I wake?

Also I started temping right in the middle of my cycle, should I have waited until my next cycle to start temping? I'm just recording and putting them right into FF.
