I only did it once a day around 8-9 pm. Not a strict time though. I got a + 2/3 months I used them, the month I didn't get a + I skipped one night testing and I'm sure would've gotten a positive that night based on when AF came. Got pregnant the 3rd month using them so I definitely think they helped us!

Similar advice as @Ash: What I learned the first time using OPKs is that it really is a good idea to test more than once a day... like a morning and evening.

I didn't have a positive OPK the last cycle but confirmed ovulation via BBT... I was only testing once a day. So I must have missed it.

I the month I gave up on OPK's is the month I got my BFP. I felt like we kept missing our window of time so we just BD when we first noticed fertile CM and poof. Although that was cycle 15 ttc.

ETA: when I was using them I wojld start testing CD 12, I had regular 28 day cycles. & would test till I got my positive. I used digital.

I usually tested in the morning and then again late afternoon, early evening just to make sure I caught the surge. If you only do mornings or only do evenings, you could miss it so you're more likely to catch it if you use the 2x a day.

I'm with @Shutterbug and test in the afternoon. I find that catches my peak. There have been times when I tested earlier in the day (12 or earlier) and didn't get anything, so I then tested later that night and got a positive. If you get the cheap wondfo's from Amazon, you can test away like that!

Hi, welcome! I always test some time in the middle of the day. Either when I get home from work, or on the weekend I'll sometimes test around 2:00.

I'm getting ready to start using opk's because we are ttc and I was wondering if anyone else followed any strict timing schedules when using them? I've read a bunch of guidelines and instructions on the importance of timing when testing, and some said not before 8am and others said not before 10am or not after 8pm or 10pm???...I'm kinda confused? When should I test?? Any advice would be much appreciated!
