I think that sounds very generous. We have an in-home daycare provider. She and her husband also provide care for 7 other kids. Since LO has been there since September, I purchased a $50 gift card for them to use at their favorite restaurant. Our weekly daycare fee is $165.

We give our nanny a month's pay, but in Mexico Christmas bonuses are a big deal and most employees are legally required to receive at least two week's pay.

I think your plan sounds great!

We are giving our nanny a weeks pay. We've been using her since October as well. She isn't getting the week off but is fine with that because her daughter will be home from school and is looking forward to playing with my daughter.

Holy crap!! Can I be your nanny?? The most I ever got was $200 extra. That was based on me working full time, but I only got paid $320 a week so I guess that's not bad.

As a former nanny, I'd be very happy with that. I don't think I ever got a weeks pay! I usually just got a gift. I did get the week off, paid.

I would have given her the exact same things but with the full week's salary.

What would you have given her normally... if she had worked full time all year?

We have a nanny who started with us in October and works three days a week. We think she's great and I know the standard holiday tip/bonus is one week's pay. But, since she's only been with us for three months, we were thinking of giving her a little less...She gets $470 a week and we were thinking of giving her $800 (so an additional $330) and gifts for both her kids (clothes) and a small additional gift for her (chocolates and a really nice body/hand cream). Oh, and we're also giving her the entire week off, paid of course, on the days she works for us: Monday (Xmas Eve), Wed (day after Xmas) and Friday.

Do you think that is too small of a holiday bonus?
