Following! We are going through the same thing. My son is almost 4 and we just had a baby. I cannot take the pooping in pull ups anymore. @bhbee: Great tips! Going to try some.

Yes to undies! Both my kids struggled with poop at first but they were in undies all the time and would ask for a diaper to poop for a while. Not sure if that could work for you based on what you say about communication but it’s an option that works for some kids and helps build their confidence.

Also an option is just to rush them to the potty if you see signs of pooping (hiding, squatting, etc). And rewards for poop in the potty. In addition if you can get him to sit on the potty a bit after meals it may just happen.

It can just be a gross phase though. My son pooped on the floor a couple times trying to get to the potty and also pooped his pants a few times before he started going 100% in the big potty. He was already 3 and ready but still took a bit to click.

We have not been super on top of potty training. I was gonna wait till my baby got here. i have her in 8 days. But my son just randomly stopped peeing in his pullup yesterday. He was dry all day yesterday and last night. He is peeing though in the potty. I thought maybe after a few more days of this to get him some big boy underwear however I'm neverous about the pooping. He still hasn't gotten that down no matter what. My son has a speak delay and is improving a lot but still has a hard time telling us when he needs to pee. I have to set timers to remind us both. Any tips or ideas to help with the poop thing. Also should I get underwear for him?
