@Mrs. Bee: That's a good mantra! Patience is definitely something I'm working on right now. I've just got to remind myself to be more Tim Cook than Steve Jobs. :)

@Honeybee: it just means to stay calm. they love to get reactions out of us, even if it's a negative reaction. i had a really bad problem with losing my patience, especially when it came to charlie dealing with olive (not sharing, not letting her in his room, etc.).

i always keep that mantra in my mind "act like a ceo" to help me keep calm and not raise my voice.

@looch: We use 1/2/3, too. It used to work wonders, but now our results are a little more mixed...

@Mrs. Bee: Very interesting! How do you put this practice? What does "acting like a CEO" look like?

@HLK208: A whole year? :/ DD isn't even three for three more months; she just started early! We've been dealing with it for almost a month, and it keeps getting worse. Unfortuantely, DD doesn't have a limit like your DS, lol; she can (and does!) go all day.

That's a good reminder of spending more quality time together; I'll try to work in some more one on one time.

yikes we are going through this now, so believe me i feel your pain! we are trying to read up the topic and implement some changes!

i read this on a blog post, and it's really helped -- act like a ceo when dealing with your toddler. you wouldn't yell, guilt, etc. an employee if you were a ceo. i try to do that with charlie because getting mad/impatient/raising my voice never has the results i want it to anyway! i think it's helped -- he has been listening better to me!

My son is only 2, but he has his own feelings and opinions on things, so it's helped me tremendously to be able to differentiate between opinion issues and other things, like being hungry, tired, bored, etc.

I also use a lot of 1/2/3 or time out and it works wonders.

It has lasted an entire year! B with be 4 in about three weeks and we still struggle daily. I have to remind myself, in a moment of frustration that it's not an all day thing. He typically throws 2 tantrums or flat out disobeys 1-2 times a day. Then he's back to his sweet, funny, smart self. I try to distract him when he is about to have a melt down.

Also, when I spend quality time with him, the bad behavior lessens.
