Shopping carts are great!

Also, will she let you walk her with one hand? That was a good transition for us. We would give her something enticing to hold in her other hand and walk around just holding the other.

charlie's favorite walkers were the melissa and doug alligator and a little tikes shopping cart. he was able to walk with them for months! from 9 months on, and didn't walk until he was 13 months.

another walker she loves could help!

I was going to suggest a simple walker too (like the stroller @Andrea: suggested). I picked up the Melissa and Doug alligator walker at a consignment sotre for $15. LO loves it (even though she isn't walking yet) already

@artbee: Maybe she'll use it for walking since it doesn't have any buttons/music to distract her, since she doesn't use the walker. I got a really cheap one at Target.

@Mrsbells: Yes she has something like that and refuses to use it for walking. She'll sit by it and play with the buttons/music.

@Andrea: She doesn't have a baby stroller but she has something like what @Mrsbells: mentioned and some other toys that she pushes around the house. Do you think I should get a baby stroller too?

Does she have a baby stroller? I felt like DD was too scared to walk on her own, too, even though she was physically able. I bought her a baby stroller so she could push that around the house. She started walking the very next day.

ETA - and it's still one of her favorites toys at 2.5 yo.

I am not at this stage but I have seen this walker on amazon and heard great things about it. Maybe that might be a starting point for independent walking?

My LO seems terrified to walk on her own. She love love loves to walk with someone holding her hand, and would do that all day if we let her. She actually cries whenever we stop! She used to love playing the walk to mommy or walk to daddy game where she would take a few steps and fall into our arms, and we would always catch her. But now when we say to do that she gets upset. Also if we seem like we're going to let go of her while she's walking she freaks out. She's never had a bad fall so I'm not really sure what she's so scared of.

She's going to be 15 months in less than a week. I know she'll eventually walk on her own and I'm really not in a huge rush, she'll do it when she's ready. I just want to help her along if I can :)
