@looch: how did the trip go?

@regberadaisy: cool!!!! If it were more than just one night I would totally a meetup! She naps ok in the stroller, so hopefully that would be fine. We haven't booked a hotel yet, but we have PnP so we will probably bring that. I just saw the Waterloo outlets, we are totally going there!!!! I'm so excited :)

@sslm: what?!?! I live 2 hours away!!
I think all you need to cross is his birth certificate, doesn't hurt to bring a letter and pictures etc of the 3 of you and some with your mom too. How does he nap usually in the stroller? LO naps in the stroller a lot so I know she will be fine. Will the hotel have a crib or are you bringing a PnP? Where are you shopping?? There's a huge outlet at NF and Waterloo as well. Which I can't remember if Waterloo is before or after Syracuse.

We took a road trip at 4 months, it was about a 4 hour drive and I obsessed over the preparation!

My son never sleeps in the car, dude was wide awake on the 25 minute ride home from the hospital, so I knew what to expect, lol.

@sslm: R took all of her naps on Sat in the car. We were just going places and it worked out that when we left it was nap time, so she just fell asleep in the car.

we took our first 3 hour roadtrip when ds was 7 months and he slept the entire ride there! on the way back he slept most of it and then woke up for the last 45 min or so and did well.

he didn't sleep well at our rental the first night and we co-slept for a part of it (we don't cosleep at home)

as far as his naps and such, he still took them, usually in the stroller, or in the car since we were out and about :)

My mom is coming to visit and we are thinking of taking a mini road trip to Syracuse to do some shopping. It's a 3 hour drive, but could be a bit longer depending on lines at the border crossing. We would stay one night in a hotel. So we'd leave here in the morning, stay one night, then leave to come home around 3 or 4 pm. Right now LO isn't going to bed until 9:30-10.

A few questions. One, is this a bad idea? How would you deal with naps, would you just hope they nap in the stroller or the ergo, or would you spend time at the hotel? Has anyone crossed the border by car with their LO? How did that go? Should I be bringing a letter from DH saying he's aware I'm traveling with her?

Any other tips???
