Agree with@bees_knees: our doc recommended vanicream and it's awesome. FWIW - our doctor told us to avoid aveeno (but I don't recall why).

The clothing thing sounds like a sensory issue, and something to address with your doctor to understand coping strategies.

Hanna Andersson's fabrics are so soft - maybe try leggings from there (to wear under dresses).

If it's dry skin, buy some Vanicream. That stuff is like miracle lotion!

My husband has a thing about seams and socks so he wears them inside out. My DD is crazy itchy and we use Aveeno and Eucerin. My sister has always been super sensitive about clothes. My mom had to feel the insides of everything before buying. As an adult she uses tons of fabric softener.

@BeachMama: If it's dry skin - I would do lotion all over after baths - and is there a humidifier in her room? That can also help with dry skin/eczema.

And it sounds like she's "sensory defensive" as I think it's called.... I've been reading a lot about sensory issues for my son (he seeks sensory input through rough play, motion, crashing, loud noise, etc)... but they've brought up the feel & texture of clothes, which don't necessarily bother him, but he doesn't really like being touched, like by the hairdresser.

I bet you could google some tips on how other kids who react strongly to the feel of texture on their skin handle this! Good luck!

My 4 year old girl is very sensitive to fabrics, etc. As in, she won't wear socks because she doesn't like the seams, and most of the time wearing pants causes meltdowns because she thinks they're itchy and/or she doesn't like the waist band. She's also been complaining more of just being itchy in general (asking me to scratch her back).

I've bought some Aveeno sooth bath stuff, and some Aveeno soothing lotion to try. Any other tips for helping her? Even though we're in California she'll need to start wearing pants more often. Does anyone with similar kids have recommendations for soft, comfy leggings for my girl?
