So, I know this is going to sound pretty hippie woo woo, but the only reason my husband and I survived the last three years without needing anti-anxiety meds is because we take Bach's Rescue Remedy. It's at Whole Foods and some grocery stores. Safe when pregnant. Can't hurt to try it?

I've been having a lot of anxiety over my pregnancy and I'm finding that trying to keep myself busy works the best for me. This means working, spending time with my husband, watching TV, etc. When I have too much free time or alone time, my mind wanders and starts going over all of the worst case scenarios. I have the hardest time when I'm in the car alone because that's when I start thinking about things. I don't know if this is the healthiest way to deal with the anxiety, but so far it's working for me.

Yoga, cal mag, acupuncture, and therapy. Even 4 intentional deep breaths a few times a day have been proven to lower anxiety!! Sending love. I know what it's like to deal with anxiety ... it's part of the reason we haven't TTC LO2 yet.

In addition to the great tips you've already gotten, one thing that I've used over the years to keep anxiety in check (in particular, anxiety attacks) is to develop a personal mantra or statement I repeat to myself when I feel myself getting anxious. It can be as simple as "I am in control of my emotions. I can control how I react" or whatever works for you. Deep breathing, while closing my eyes and repeating it has gotten me through a lot of anxiety and stressful situations. Good luck

@Autumnmama79: I saw a therapist for anxiety during my first pregnancy and found it really helpful.
Other things that help me are regular exercise and a strict sleep schedule.
And, when I start to have anxious thoughts, I remind myself "my brain is looking for something to be anxious about. If I don't entertain this thought, it won't be here anymore." And I force myself to think about something else entirely (like menu ideas, my dream house, what type of boots I want, whatever- something somewhat fun to think about that isn't connected to the pregnancy at all)

Sorry you are going through this!! Pregnancy after loss is very hard.

I didn't have an MC but I was also constantly worried about it (lots of bleeding in the beginning). I'm a big worrier about all things!

For me I just needed more people to tell me it was going to be okay... from DH, OB, friends and family.

So I will say to you.

You are going to be okay! You are pregnant now and enjoy that.

Though this might not work for you... I thought I would give it a try.

Good luck!

This seems to be a little more anxiety than what would be considered "normal." I totally understand your fear with the previous losses (I had 2 MCs and it took 3 years to finally have our first son), and I was a wreck from weeks 20-28 when they told me I had a complete previa and needed to be on total pelvic rest, but leaving work once a week because of the worry itself is concerning.

I think its a really good idea to talk to your doctor about it. I didn't get medicated while pregnant (which lots of women do, so no worries if you need it), but I had a history of some depression and anxiety before pregnancy and both my DH and my doctor were on the lookout for it. Sure enough, I got diagnosed with PPA/PPD around 6 weeks postpartum and took Zoloft for a few months.

When I was going through my PPA, taking a walk really helped settle my nerves. I used to get 2 pretty bad anxiety attacks almost like clockwork between 10am-12pm and 2-4pm, and taking a slow 30-40 minute walk around my neighborhood, sometimes with music or talking on the phone with a friend really helped. Another thing was try to eat something nutritious. Having a healthy smoothie or eating a boiled egg was a small, tangible thing I could tell myself I was doing to heal my body and provide my baby with good nutrition. Also, sleep is incredibly restorative for anxiety. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and I take a Unisom + B6 every night before bed - not only because of my nausea, but it ensures I get a solid block of sleep every night without much effort.

Good luck!

My sister had to get on anti anxiety medication when she was pregnant with her second. Her natural anxiety became magnified and overwhelming. Doctor said healthy mama mentally was just as important.

Pregnancy after a loss is just really hard. I'm newly pregnant (7 weeks) after a loss at 7 weeks this summer. I keep just trying to take things day by day and make good decisions when it comes to food, etc. Ultimately, I can only control so much and the rest is out of my hands. I do go to acupuncture every week, which helps me relax and my acupuncturist is like a therapist who helps calm me down.

Also, I've always thought that being active (versus laying down at home) was a good thing for your pregnancy as long as you don't overdo it. Moving around, exercising, etc. all promote blood flow and good circulation, which is important for that baby. In fact, I feel guilty for not going for a jog this morning for the circulatory benefits but this extreme fatigue hardly makes me want to be active.

@juli7: Thanks for mentioning yoga. My doula also suggested that and I'd totally forgotten. I will mention to my ob when I see her in a couple weeks that I just can't seem to shake the worry. Thanks for your reply  Looking into the yoga now...

Have you tried yoga? Even just doing a 15 minute prenatal yoga video on demand helps me relax.

I'd also recommend talking to your doctor - mine was so responsive when I was dealing with anxiety postpartum.

Good luck

I'm looking for some.

Following two losses I am currently 19 wks pg with Lo2 and dealing with serious anxiety about this pregnancy. I am consumed with worry over loss and still birth and babies dying upon birth, etc. Every little twinge or cramp sends me into a panic attack. I've left work twice in the past two weeks because of this and would honestly prefer to be at home laying down, all the time.

I've decided that massage will be one thing I can do to possibly relieve some anxiety so I'm looking forward to that this weekend. Hubs is well aware and I've been talking about it with him from the get go, but he's mostly in the 'stay positive' camp which is easier said than done. What else worked for you?

TIA
