@yoursilverlining: thanks for reminding me of this point. I had a good cry about it today in hopes of a more calm tomorrow, then started to feel bad about wanting to not cry when I leave her! Before her, I was never a particularly emotional person, so all these big feelings have really thrown me for a loop over the past few months.

Go easy on yourself, which also means its ok if you don't feel super upset when you drop your LO off. I was nervous of course to leave LO at daycare, but I trusted them completely and I knew how much fun she was having and how well they cared for her - - and honestly, it was nice to get back to work and adult conversations and the routine. Don't feel guilty if it isn't a horrible transition for you, sometimes it isn't.

Our center does the email with pics each day too and that ROCKS. It is the best part of my day for sure! I love love love seeing what she is up to, seeing LO with her little buddies and seeing their huge smiles.

I think some of it is mental - the more I told myself everything was fine, the more I felt that way. Good luck!

@autumnleaves: they actually do an email with pics each afternoon, but I will definitely ask about texts. It is a large center so probably not, but it can't hurt to find out. Thanks for the idea!

See if the daycare will text you photos of your LO. Mine offered to do that and it made me feel so much better to get 2 photos a day of my LO that first week.
My LO also sleeps better at night after daycare.

@Rocker2014: Not exactly the same because I am only home on bedrest, not going to work, but my lo is going to his first day of daycare tomorrow too :( Just wanted to send hugs and that I will be thinking of you!

@snowjewelz: not sure yet. Since it is a brand new job I don't know the culture of the office. I'm hoping yes, at least on days when I'm in that location.

Aww! Does that mean you can visit or sneak peeks at LO then? My LO will either be home which is 20 min away or at daycare that's 5 min away and I am so tempted to go home or to daycare during lunch!

Thank for the tips - I know she'll love it, I just have to get through it. The first of many transitions, I imagine...

Take deep breaths!

Have some pics on your phone so you can look at LO, especially if you are pumping

I brought one of her sleepers so I could smell her when I missed her.

Lay out your clothes and lo's clothes so you don't have to worry about that in the morning.

Get as much ready the night before and in the car if you can.

Make a time schedule so you know you have all that you need to do in the morning.

Plan a good breakfast.

Good luck! I hope the day flies by!

It is going to be harder for you than her. Give yourself extra time in the morning and get as much ready tonight as you can.

You are both going to do great!

@MamaCate: I was going to say the same thing...go easy on yourself!

Your baby will be fine and they will adjust. It took E about 2 weeks to adjust both times and now I see daycare like an awesome play date. He gets to socialize with other kids, which I think is huge for a kid with 2 introverted parents.

@Rocker2014: <3 call as much as you want, they really don't mind! I called like 4 times his first day and it was SO reassuring to hear how he was doing and all the teachers were gushing over him. It really put my mind at ease about the transition and made me confident that he was getting love and attention.

Take deep breaths and go easy on yourself. I am sure you and LO will do great but it is hard to say goodbye that first day. Just look forward to how excited LO will be to see you when you pick her up! Good luck!

E is 11 weeks old and today is my last day of maternity leave. She starts daycare tomorrow and I start a brand new job. I know it is the best thing for both of us, E is such a social kid and will love daycare, but I am so sad! Any tips for getting through this transition? We already visited the center for an hour last week, (it's in the same building as my new job) and I'm confident in their program, but I'm dreading tomorrow morning!
