@sorrycharlie: they would have to specifically test your TSH levels, but if you haven't had your b/w done yet it shouldn't be too difficult to have it added to your requisition.

Good luck!

I agree with others, time to see a doctor. It could be a multitude of things that can be fixed without overeating.

Do you like nuts? They are nutrient/calorie dense so that would be an easy way to get a lot of calories. You could also make up a bunch of PB sandwiches to have on hand.

@sorrycharlie: Chiming in because I used to have Graves'. If they circled TSH as one of the things they are looking for on your slip, then that would basically tell you whether hyperthyroidism might be the culprit. But normally, I don't think they check that for annual blood work. This site has more info on what they check for: http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/cbc/tab/test.

@sorrycharlie: I am in the same boat. I am about 20 lbs below pre pregnancy weight (though only 10 below my healthy weight). I am sick of comments from people too. It is hard for me to remember to eat. I try to have something while DS is napping. and have a snack when he does as well. It hasn't really helped much yet though...

@T.H.O.U.: I should buy another set of tupperware. I had a great set (the red lid one?) but my husband slowly lost them to work. ha!

@Ocean girl: I actually was tested because my doctor thought I had Graves disease several years back, but they decided that my thyroid levels were normal. I'm due for annual blood work, so - stupid question - is thyroid something they would find or would have had to specifically order? I have my lab slip upstairs. I have severe anxiety, heart palpitations, as well.

@BabyBoecksMom: @rahlyrah: @tlcbaby: @Delight: embarrassing..I've never made a shake or a smoothie..I know, lol. Just frozen fruit, some milk and ice?

@MrsADS: I loooove bagels and load them with cream cheese! I can't really stomach anything above skim milk - sometimes 1% - but I'll try. I loathe eggs..go figure, lol. Butter is a good idea. I also never thought of my fitness pal to gain! I used it before my wedding to lose, it's much easier understanding what's going on when you can figure out the whole calorie intake thing! I'm going to download again to get an idea of how much I'm eating.

@fancyfunction: I totally feel like people judge me when I "complain" about losing weight. I get a lot of, "oh boo hoo!" or, "must be nice!" ...well just like being overweight, being underweight isn't ideal either! of course my DH says I look great, but without a belt my pants drop to the floor and WITH a belt, they look foolish because they're so cinched. I have a fast metabolism, but it's weird for me that I can't figure this out. I'm only nursing once every 1-2 days now too, so not that!

@.twist.: I really should set reminders! I try to eat when O does, but then she wants all of my food..kind of defeats the purpose, lol.

Besides all the great advice here, could you set reminders for yourself to eat lunch (or even a quick snack, like something already prepared, as others have mentioned)?

@sorrycharlie: I don't have any suggestions but just wanted to say I feel your pain. The other day I noticed my jeans were falling off my waist and I asked my husband if he thought I looked like I lost weight. I don't think I've changed my eating habits (and I definitely indulge in "bad" things). I'm just naturally very thin and went to a new dr. last month who asked if I was always this thin before baby. I feel like I get judgements and comments a lot and it's annoying. Good luck. :)

When I was pregnant I lost a lot of weight in the first 4 months and had to see a dietitian. She suggested I add a scoop of protein powder to shakes. She also suggested I eat granola bars that were high in protein. The ones I got were called Kashi bars that have 7g of protein. I was eating Fibre 1 bars before and they only had 2g. It helped me put the weight back on.

I am in the same boat (sort of). I have gastroparesis, but it's under excellent control now with medication. So I am trying to gain back the weight I lost before starting TTC.

It's all calories in/calories out, is what it comes down to. I try to eat healthy, but the reality is you're not going to gain weight eating grapes and carrot sticks and salad. You might find it helpful to track your calorie intake on a site like My Fitness Pal (except to gain weight, not to lose it!). That will give you a better idea of what you're eating now and what you SHOULD be eating to gain weight (i.e., if you're only eating 1500 calories and you should be aiming for 2500).

I would suggest definitely no skipping meals. Try to drink liquids with calories - juice, milk, gatorade instead of plain water. That's 80-100 calories right there in an 8oz glass. I know I eat more sugar than I should but I will worry about that once I've gained the weight. My GI doctor is okay with it. He encourages me to eat WHATEVER I can tolerate. I will make fruit smoothies at home with protein powder - but use those as a snack, not a meal.

Make sure to switch your dairy to higher fat if you haven't already. Bagels and full fat cream cheese are a good high cal snack. Definitely incorporate more fat and protein - I eat a LOT of eggs cooked in butter. Eat your veggies, but put butter or olive oil on them. And big slabs of peanut butter on toast!

I have to be a little careful with eating a lot of fat, because it bothers my stomach, so I do more sugary stuff that's easy to digest... like fruit snacks and gummy bears. LOL. Not that I recommend that, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. And sometimes eating something fattier really fills me up so I have trouble eating other stuff.

And yeah, since it's the holidays, definitely have lots of cookies and stuff! If I feel like something desserty, I always have it. Seriously, if you're trying to gain weight, just eat it. Not the time to deprive yourself. I can't eat ice cream, but if you can, that's a big calorie bomb. I would add a bowl of full fat ice cream every night after dinner if it's something you like!

You need more protein and healthy fats. Eating fast food/junk isn't the way you want to gain weight. If you're always busy, make shakes with yogurt, fruits, veggies and then throw some whey protein in there. That way, you're getting the nutrition you need without needing to sit down for an entire meal.

Have you ruled out hyperthyroidism? I was treated for hypothyroidism while pregnant and dropped my preggo weight super fast after LO was born. When the doctor rechecked my thyroid, my TSH was nearly undetectable! I'd like to say my weight loss was due to the many miles I put on my stroller in the fall, but I think my overactive thyroid may have helped a bit. It also came with hot flashes, heart palpitations and some anxiety.

Assuming all is well in that department, maybe you could set alarms on your phone to remind you to eat? Have lots of high calorie/high protein snacks available (boiled eggs in the fridge, cut up pieces of cheese, pre sliced bagels)...

Also, take advantage of opportunities to overindulge during in the holiday season :)

You could try adding more fats like avocado to your meals and coconut milk or coconut oil to smoothies?

I agree with @T.H.O.U.: too - having food ready to go makes it a lot easier to make sure you get a good meal or snack when you are busy!

I would suggest stocking your fridge with prepared foods that are easy to grab and eat or reheat. Things like carrots and dip, cut up apples, cleaned grapes, etc. That's the easiest way for me to fit in more fruits and veggies. Set a little bowl out on the counter while you are home and every time you pass just grab one or two.

Do you have a good set of individual size Tupperware? Save leftovers in single serving portions so all you have to do is heat it up.

I cannot stop losing weight. Hold the judgment, please.

I'm almost 15 below my healthy weight (pre-pregnancy weight). I've been trying to eat more (it's hard to remember when chasing a LO all day) but aside from junk food and fast food - which I am not *opposed* to - is there a healthier way to put on some pounds?

I'm seriously tired of the comments from family :(

eta: culprits are partly my metabolism, partly stress/anxiety, and part just forgetting to eat.
