@2PeasinaPod: I'm doing probably 1 part formula to 7 parts breastmilk right now. So pretty little! She just took an ounce at least so that's progress.

@LBee: thank you!

@looch: that's an idea! I tried just formula right off the back in case we got lucky but it didn't go well. Maybe the flow difference will help

@Pumpkin Pie: yeah when I tried straight formula it wasn't first thing, maybe I'll do that tomorrow morning!

@Mrs. Deer: We couldn't mix the two, it was either BM or it was formula, the combination made her mad. Maybe try just straight formula, and she will eat when she's hungry so if LO refuses at first, wait a little bit and then offer the formula again. I know how hard it is to see the expensive formula go to waste, but once she's on it she will get used to it. But honestly I would just go straight to formula no mixing, it could be confusing her!

@Mrs. Deer: Mixing formula with BM didnt work for us. What worked best was just giving her straight formula first thing in the morning when she was hungriest, and then giving it to her the rest of the day.

What if you tried a faster flow nipple, and feeding 100% formula first, then offering a slower flow nipple and a BM/formula mix?

I know it's painful to waste anything, try not to think about it too much.

@Mrs. Deer: I couldn’t find a lot of helpful threads, but here are some:

http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/how-to-get-8-mo-old-to-take-formula-for-the-first-time#post-1973690

http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/tips-for-transitioning-from-ebf-to-formula#post-1230818

You could maybe try messaging the people who started the threads to see if they have any advice?

I’m so sorry you are going through this! Have you tried going 100% formula? Maybe the mix just confuses her.

In terms of troubleshooting - could it be the bottle? We ended up trying like 6 before we found out which one my son liked. She’s a paci snob too (my son is), if I remember correctly – what kind of paci does she take?

Can you go a little less? So if you're doing 1:1, can you do 2:1 with more breastmilk or even 3:1? I know it's tough to start off with, but when we switched LO from breastmilk to formula, I started off with such a small amount of formula and slowly increased it as he got used to it.

@spaniellove: decided to just go straight to Elecare. I think that'll give her the best shot at feeling good and I think we'll have better luck getting it covered by insurance.

@Mrs.Someone: We're on an elemental and I'm pretty sure the others don't taste any better :/

@2PeasinaPod: yup! Mixing the formula with water in a separate container then adding that to breastmilk.

@Mrs. Deer: When you're mixing in the formula, are you also adding water? I know that sounds like a silly question, but I just wanted to ask to be sure!

We need to get LO onto formula decently fast (pretty sure she has FPIES). I'm pumping and bottle feeding but even adding a tablespoon of formula to a 3 oz bottle bothers her. We have a pediatrician appointment in one week and she needs to be on it before that so we can asses it and make a plan.

And please feel free to point me the direction of older threads if this has been talked about before. I'm sure there are some but I'm having trouble finding them.

Thank you all!
