@Smurfette: have her try them out at home! O had a good amount of room in the 4s at first but she could walk fine. It took her a bit to get used to them at first just because they were her first "real" shoe, so to speak. Late walker and all, lol.

@sorrycharlie: I tried those yesterday. Will only go on in the next size but then I worry about her being able to walk.

@autumnlove: At least it is warmer where you are. I have no clue what I am going to do all winter. What if we get snow again, she can't play in it in her sneakers.

we had this issue with O. I got her the knock off uggs at target, by genuine kids. they have sizes 2-5 but they sell fast, so your store may or may not have them in stock.

they have a zipper on the side, and at one point I did size her from 3 to 4 and they were a little bit big but she could walk totally fine in them. She loves them! we just bought the size 5 and I'm gonna be so bummed when she outgrows. we need to find a backup pair of 6 in another brand.

bonus - only 16.99

i went through 7 pairs of shoes from zappos before i found some that i could get on lo's fat-ass feet without a major struggle--the extra wide shoes from stride rite finally worked. oddly we also had luck with timberland boots, but those aren't everyday shoes obviously.

eta: oh wait, you are looking for boots. although i'm guessing you wanted something cuter than timberlands for her.

@Smurfette: Yes. Target had wideish mary janes up to size 5 so those worked but now I can't find anything for size 6. She only has dressy sandals right now. :(

@hilsy85: The ones we have have velcro on the side so they do open. I didn't even try just pull on ones.

What about boots with a zipper that opens up all the way down on teh side? That might give you more room to get her foot in.

The top of R's feet are chubby. So for instance mary jane shoes don't work for her, cause the lower edge digs into her foot. I think someone said it means she has a high instep.

I tried to put some boots on her this weekend and we couldn't get her foot all the way in the boot cause of the top of her foot. Length wise the shoes are fine. I bought a size bigger, and then I can get them on. But then they are too big for her.

Any tips? I hope this doesn't mean all she can wear all winter is sneakers!
