I thought the day would never come where DS would be okay in his carseat for longer periods, but that day did come, and it was so gradual, I don't think I noticed when exactly, but he was probably 5 or 6 months. He's so quiet in the car nowadays, a far cry from the earlier months where NOTHING would console him, especially not my singing. Hahahaha.

Oh man.. No tips. DD hated her car seat and it took a good 3 months for her to start liking it.

DS on the other hand always falls asleep in the car and will sit quietly in his car seat for hours! Even when we're not moving!

@MamaMoose: We have a mirror so we can see her but it doesn't play music or anything.

@NovBaby1112: she will look around and watch everything for maybe two minutes and then she starts screaming.

@PrincessBaby: I hate seeing her so upset. It makes me cry with her. Stupid PP hormones!

Thanks! We have a little toy hanging down but she doesn't seem interested in it. I will try sitting in the back with her this weekend. Even though I hate to do that, I like sitting by DH. But the silence would be worth it.

My DD HATED her car seat at first. She would cry and scream. It was hard to take her anywhere! She got used to it at around 4 or 5 months. But only because I sat in the back with her, constantly entertaining her. Your LO probably just needs to get used to it.

My son cried almost every time, then around 3-4 months, he got used to it. So much easier to go places now! I always sat in the back with him. For longer trips, I pumped a bottle to give him in case he started crying.

E did the same, it got better with time. I found if I could keep a soother in her mouth we were better.... sometimes in a pinch I'd reach back and she would suck on my finger -.-

Repetition! My LO would foam at the mouth he'd scream so hard so we went out every day for a month and he got over it. Once he was old enough giving him a taggie blanket to play with while in there helped a lot and a you hanging from the handle- the Lamaze dragonfly has a ring they can hold on to!

@Smurfette: @PrincessBaby: omg I totally feel your pain! Going anywhere in the car by myself really stresses me out too! K can cry so hard she throws/spits up. Turns all red. Just heartbreaking! I've only gone local places by myself with her and agree, every red light or time I slow down its like an on switch for crying. We have a 1hr plus drive to DHs parents this weekend and 5-6 hr drive coming up in a couple weeks - so nervous about them!

@Smurfette: H's screaming in the car would stress me the F out! I had so much anxiety about the carseat and going places! But she will get used to it, and YOU will get used to crying or fussing in the car too...You get to where there's nothing you can do, except get to where you're going:). You will get there, Mama! Ugh! I remember how stressful that all was! I told DH every day that I hated the stupid carseat!

My son hates being in his car seat, too! I try putting toys he can reach for and putting on classical music for him to listen to. The good thing is that he will cry; however, once the car starts moving he usually calms down and will sleep instead. I'm trying to get out with him more so that he gets use to being in the car seat more often. I'm glad to hear that he will grow out of it, can't wait.

I feel your pain! M hated the cars seat with a passion for the first 2-3 months of life! I dreaded having to take her anywhere bc she would scream the whole time and I felt so bad! However, she's totally over that now and is fine in the car, and gasp- even sleeps in her car seat now! I think once she started being more alert and aware of her surroundings, she liked looking out the windows, looking at her overhanging toys, etc. it will pass!!

@Smurfette: if you are with someone else I would suggest sitting in the back with her until she gets more used to it. I would whisper/sing right in LO's face when she cried in the car and she would always calm down. Also... Do you have a mirror? We have one with a light that plays music and she likes to check herself out in there.

@PrincessBaby: @zippylef: good to know that she should grow out of it. She does seem to like it better when we are moving. I was so upset this afternoon after going to BRU, she wouldn't stop crying and we got stuck at every single light.

@Smurfette: Oh at just 3 weeks, I think she'll get way better by the time you go to work! H was a hot mess about the car seat for the first couple of months, but the more we used it, the more tolerable it became...

C hated the carseat as a newborn! She would scream nonstop. I think she just grew out of it eventually, but it took 2-3 months. Have you tried putting a headrest mirror or a fun toy with her?

H did this! Eventually she got used to it and she doesn't really cry in it anymore. She is actually passed out in it right this second from our earlier car ride:)

Oh the worst was she would be okay if we were on the highway, but she cried at every single red light!!!!!

R is only 3 weeks old but 90% of the time, she screams when in the car seat. Coming home from Easter at my parents, she cried for the whole 45 mins. When we got home she was so sweaty cause she had worked herself up so much.

Any tips to get her to like the car seat better? When did your LO grow out of the crying in the seat phase?

I am praying she grows out of it soon as we are suppose to go visit DH's family the first weekend in May and I can't do 5 hours of her crying. Not to mention once I go back to work, we have a 30+ plus ride to day care each way.
