I recommend Jamie Glowacki's Oh Crap Potty Training e-book. It worked great for my son. http://www.jamieglowacki.com/

@.twist.: haha, seriously! I heard this story at LUNCH with Hubs family! Everyone was cracking up, but I was HORRIFIED!!! I told my nephew that while it was kind of amusing, he really couldn't continue doing that and needed to learn how to aim! Also, note to self: don't let him visit my house until he's learned how to do this correctly!

@Adira: That is kind of hilarious and gross. I would be making him clean up after himself until he learned! I think they still point it down, or like @brownie: said, spread legs and it will do it automatically.

@Adira: If they spread their legs and lean forward it automatically points down. Otherwise, encourage them to point it down.

@.twist.: I think her problem is that she potty trained him to pee standing, but apparently didn't enforce the "hold on an AIM" piece. He apparently doesn't hold on or aim or anything - he just stands there and hopes it goes into the toilet! And if he gets distracted, it goes everywhere! I definitely think training them to SIT is the way to go! Do they still have to point it down at all? My husband stands so I have no idea what needs to be done with sitting, haha.

@Adira: hahaha I don't think that's the norm. At least not in our house!! Both our boys (5 & 8) sit down to do their business! They see their dad stand to pee but they have no desire to yet. Might be because they're both too short to stand and pee but yea, they don't yet!

@Bao: We have a bunch of potty training blog posts!

The 3-day potty training system is pretty popular:

@mrbee: I don't think anything in particular, she's really at a loss since she just sat her other 2 on the toilet, they went, and that was that.

My son is 20 months and we are in a potty learning process. But, we just sat him on the potty and encouraged him. At first he got toys while he sat there (so he was on long enough to do something). Now, we count to 20 while he sits because he needs time to relax to let it come. He pees everytime we sit on a potty (as long as some time has elapsed).

Ugh, I don't have any tips, just don't do whatever my SIL did with her son! He's seven now and I guess he stands up to pee and he doesn't AIM! He apparently gets pee all over the bathroom ALL THE TIME. I hope this isn't normal and is just something my SIL did that I can avoid!

I don't know a thing about potty training, but my mom said they used to toss a couple Cheerios in the bowl and have my brother aim at them. They turned it into a game for him, haha. Not sure if this is a tall tale, but it sure makes for an entertaining story.

My sister is just starting to potty train her 2.5 year old boy, and she is having a hard time, and she is getting frustrated. She just started and I told her to take time an to relax. She said her other 2 kids it only took a day, but I think that is because she got freakishly lucky. My LO is only a couple months old so I don't have any tips for her, but I was hoping you guys could help me out with some tips on how to make this a pleasant experience for her and her LO.
