We didn't just declutter, we eliminated more than 50% of our stuff. Surfaces were all completely cleared and 1 or two neutral accent pieces were placed. We repainted the dining room in a neutral color. We touched up any chipped paint, edges, floor scuffs. We replaced lighting with brighter bulbs. We added lighting in darker places. We had a yard service come out and stage the yard. We repainted the porch area and added flowers and other curb appeal items. We then had our realtor come through and critique what we had done.</p> <p>She suggested adding a top down blind to the nursery because it overlooked a condo complex and a privacy screen on the fence between us and the nearest neighbor. It seemed awkward to walk into a house and see their family photo, because then it felt like it would never be our house!</p> <p>We also kept a new or very clean set of towels that we only put out for showings.
