@Cole: thanks! I can't wait ti be past this stage.

@MrsKoala: @gilmoregirl: @MrsA: @LemonJack: thanks for responding.

Can't thank everyone enough for reaching out to respond, it's really helped me feel less alone, even though I still feel like crap. I'm not sure how I'm going to manage back to work tomorrow but I am calling my midwives about diglecis or zofran this morning.

I'm sorry! I'm in my second trimester, so all of that is fresh in my mind. I think you've gotten some great advice. Don't feel bad about just vegging in front of the tv and giving LO more screen time than usual because it WILL end. Hang in there!

@Revel: nausea was much better with this pregnancy than with my first. Diclegis made it manageable through most of the day.
The exhaustion...oh man. Way worse. But with the first, I could come home, collapse on the couch, and have DH make something small for dinner. This time around its home from work, then immediately into Mom mode. I've been takking advantage of weekend nap time to get through and trying to give myself a break. 5 more weeks!

I'm right there with you, it's no fun at all. I am finding it helps both my daughter and me if u suck it up for about ten minutes twice a day to just focus on her, play, read, chat etc. It's so much less than usual but it's helping. I am trying to let my husband take all of the stuff like diaper changes, meals, baths etc so I can at least be present for other things so we can connect. Food is basically my worst enemy right now so whenever I am able I try to get multiple things ready to go, like I'll make breakfast, chop strawberries for snack and pack her little Bento box for lunch so I'm not prepping food several times a day.

It definitely sucks but I keep telling myself we'll be through it soon!

@Iced Tea: @MrsA: thank you both for the info. I am definitely catastrophizing with the "how will I ever survive" the next days/weeks/months so I know that's not helpful.

How did you all find pregnancy 2 compared to your first, in terms of severity and duration of symptoms

All of the above. Diclegis was a godsend this pregnancy. And ditto re: coupon on the website. My copay is $40 for it, so I just used FSA money each month.
Also, the times I felt worst were when I went "how am I going to do 8 more months of this??" Take it day by day and do what you need to to get through. Cleaning can wait so you can nap. It's ok not to make balanced meals. It's ok to put on the tv. Hang in there!

I feel your pain. I've struggled with hyperemesis and caring for a 22 month old. I'm 18 weeks now and just starting to regain some normalcy, though I'm still overwhelmed by catching up on all the things I had to let go (housecleaning, etc.) during that time.

More info on Diclegis, should you decide to try it:
Insurance usually requires your doctor to complete a preauthorization form confirming that you have already tried unisom+b6 and found it inadequate.

You may still find that you have a high copay for diclegis (if so there's a coupon on their webpage reducing your copay to $30, I think). If it isn't covered at all, you can use the forms on the Diclegis page to order it by mail from Foundation Care pharmacy at $1 per pill. I had to do that one month; it did cost me $90, but it was necessary for me.

@catlady: interesting- i haven't taken the unisom during the day yet because I don't think I could function, but I think it does really help with the nausea, so maybe it's worth asking about diglecis. At this point I would pretty much pay anything to feel more functional!

@Revel: I think the main difference between regular unisom+B6 and diclegis is that the diclegis has a delayed/extended release so you don't get as tired. I still got extremely tired for about a week but eventually got use to the dose and was fine with it for another 6 weeks or so. One issue is that insurance doesn't always cover diclegis and it is extremely expensive otherwise. I was lucky that mine covered it but the pharmacist was pretty surprised and had offered to just sell me the same dose of the unisom+B6 if it wasn't covered.

@catlady: @skipra: I've been taking 1/2 unisom and just upped to 25 mg b6 3x a day - i do feel better from the unisom but then poor during the day. Is diglecis significantly better, if I can get a script? I can call my midwives tomorrow.

No naps from my LO but she will chill out with a show for a while. Tuesday is back to work, can't decide if that will be better or worse.

@snowjewelz: thanks for the solidarity!

Unisom + B6 or Diclegis and going to bed as soon as your LO is down for the night + napping if/when she does. A few nights I actually went to bed before the kids and just let DH handle bedtime. Good practice for when the baby arrives anyway.
Also, not sure if you're like me and sometimes drive places and have LO take a car nap but DO NOT DO THAT. It is such a bad idea when you are pregnant and exhausted and need nap time to rest yourself. I regretted it every single time I had to do it.

@Revel: hang in there! I had a tough pregnancy... I was sick till 20 weeks, then the big belly really got me tired/in pain in the end so there was a very short window where I felt up to it. I felt so bad but just know they don't remember! Through out pregnancy and now I totally have days where screen time was just excessive but honestly just do what you need to get through!

@Emsmems: thanks! Yeah we do some tv so that's definitely in the rotation.

Appreciate the reminder that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. With my daughter weeks 6 and 7 were the absolute worst, and I was mostly better by 10, so maybe that will be the case this time too.

TV! I would turn on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (my son's favorite) and lay next to him on the couch, sometimes dozing in and out while he watched. Some days I just had to to survive. Otherwise taking him places where I didn't have to be too involved and could sit while he played and he would be ok, like play dates and indoor play places. I know you know this, but I t will end! I'm 20 weeks now and it's much better!

That was me and an 18-20 month old! I really just had to force DD1 and DH to do more together... Which was helpful for down the line (like now when the baby is actually here). One thing that helps me is I know she is perfectly content and is an angel once I'm not physically present; she is extra whiny with me around so I know even if she threw a fit in front of me, once she is away from me she has always been great.

Feeling super down at 6 and a half weeks about the horrible nausea/exhaustion I'm feeling, particularly because it's so hard caring for my 3 year old through all of this. In general I have anxiety around being well enough to take care of her so this has been particularly triggering for me.

Any words of wisdom, tips on survival? My husband is around and helpful but my daughter has major mommy preference so sometimes just getting her to leave the house with him becomes a battle that I don't have the energy to fight.
