I agree w pp's about trying a ball for a while. They really make me sit up straighter.

@Andrea: yup regular office chair with arms. I have really short legs though... my feet don't touch the ground which is why I started sitting that way in the first place. It helps my back posture though.

@Mrs. High Heels: yeah, I don't carry her anymore unless it's 100% necessary! Hang in there, too!

@mrsmenow: I was just thinking that. I think I have a ball somewhere in my house to try out! 12 hr shifts...wow, kudos to you!!

Maybe try sitting on an exercise ball (if it would be apropriate at your job). I find it much more comfortable than sitting on a straight back chair. Getting up and taking a quick walk will help too.

I worked in a clinic with DD 2 and it was really hard to sit. With baby 3 I am working on a really busy floor-12 hours shifts and that is getting to be tough.

I'm only on week 28 and already feel this way. I'm achy all over and it hurts even walking up and down the stairs. It's harder and harder to carry my LO around and I'm so ready to be done with this!! No tips, but I feel ya!

I intentionally used a small water/tea cup, so I'd have to get up and walk to the kitchen to refill it a lot. And I'd go pee while I was up. I'd also walk over and talk to my coworkers instead of emailing or calling them, as much as I could.

You are doing exactly what I did!

I made sure I drank a lot of water throughout the day, got frequent breaks to stretch, and made sure my feet were elevated.

I worked mostly from home the last few weeks, and I would just spread 8 hours of working time over my entire awake period. (This sounds harder to do when you already have a kid...)
If I woke up to pee at 5, I'd get up and work for an hour till I was tired again and then go back to sleep for a couple hours, then work a couple hours, then nap or relax or take a walk, then work another couple hours... I don't think I ever worked more than 2 hours straight between breaks of 30 minutes or more, and I was just kind of constantly doing little tasks throughout the day and night.

Ha, iunno but I sit cross legged (Indian style) a lot of the time... I've always sat that way regularly and still am at 38 weeks

I worked right up to my due date too and was very stiff and slow by the end. Gaviscon on my desk was a lifesaver!

@mediagirl: I can see how a laptop would be comfier but I have to work at a desktop with two screens. I try not to hunch, but I just get into that position eventually.

I think I have a fitness ball somewhere. I'll have a look, maybe it'll help to sit on that sometimes, too.

Ugh, I'm sitting on two pillows and have one behind my back for support. I don't know what I'd feel like if I didn't do that, because even with the pillows my back is KILLING me by the time I get home and all through the night. I wish I could work from home!

I'm curious about this too! I have a nice chair but I noticed it doesn't have the back support I need right now so I'm thinking of bringing a pillow in to put behind me. I always find that I'm leaning forward instead of sitting back which takes a toll on my body!

Not to mention besides the physical discomfort I'm finding it harder and harder to concentrate on the work I actually have to do!

You're doing what I did - footstool and comfy chair. I actually had my boss buy me a new chair when I was pregnant because mine was so bad!!

Do you use a laptop? Try putting it on your lap while you sit back and put your feet up. It's not ideal but it's better than leaning over a desk.

It was not fun, but I just kept telling myself it was making the time until my due date go by faster. Once I hit my due date, I started working from home.

It's getting so hard to sit all day for work. I have a comfy chair and a foot stool. I try to get up regularly to stretch and walk around a bit but I'm getting so stiff and sore. It's getting so hard to go pick up DD at the end of the day and take care of her. I'm working right up to my due date and I'm dreading it with how I'm feeling. Any tips to manage this better?
