Thank you everyone! I’m not convinced it was norovirus—no diarhhea or fever, just vomiting. Also, we haven’t been anywhere (been quarantining ourselves to avoid the Flu...oh the irony) so I’m pretty sure he had what DS1 did and 1 week is a loooong incubation period! Either way, I certainly don’t want anyone else to catch it! He took two naps today, been drinking pedialyte, and ate a little bit (BRAT diet) and was begging for candy...so I think he’s ok ;) Been sleeping since 6:15, but he had a long night last night so he needs it!

I made a bleach/water solution and scrubbed today, washed everything contaminated on a sanitize cycle, and tried my best to keep DS3 isolated. I’m nursing so hoping that helps too! Keeping fingers crossed that it doesn’t spread to anyone else.

On and probably needless to say we also separated lo1 from the day after she threw up (it was at the end of the day and she spent most that day in school) until after the fever was gone for about a day and she hadn't puked in days. Yes, I'm crazy.

@bees_knees: my oldest just had a stomach bug with vomit/diarrhea/fever and we have been using these: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Clorox-Healthcare-Bleach-Germicidal-Wipes-6-3-4-x-9-Unscented-70-Canister/20837448?action=product_interest&action_type=title&item_id=20837448&placement_id=irs-2-b1&strategy=SMT&visitor_id&category=&client_guid=ff51083d-d586-48b4-8c0a-1542dd51eb38&customer_id_enc&config_id=2&parent_item_id=19662989&parent_anchor_item_id=19662989&guid=e0c395ec-e43f-440c-bfe2-3912ad466688&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&beacon_version=1.0.1&findingMethod=p13n

We also wash all laundry on sanitize and dry most of it in the dryer on sanitize and use bleach when we can, plus run the dishwasher on sanitize and use the advent sterilized for bottles packs and my pump stuff. I'm just weaning off the pump as Dh has just gone back to work. Lo3 hasn't had it so far but she actually had a couple kinda projectiley spit ups BEFORE so we were wondering if she and lo2 (who threw a temper tantrum and puked also before lo1 got sick) might have had it first.. I doubt it but who knows. Lo3 is 6 weeks old. Streeeesssssss. :bummed:

My then 2.5 yo got a stomach bug when my baby was about 6 weeks old and I was pretty panicked but we managed to keep it to just her. I had also read that normal Clorox and Lysol wipes don’t kill it so in addition to wiping everything with them, I used a little bleach and water solution on the likely culprits- doorknobs, remote control, light switches, dresser knobs where her diapers were kept... and I used disposable puppy pads as a liner on the changing table and threw them out for every poopy diaper. Wash everything on hot. Keep the kids separated as much as you can without going insane. And wash hands with plenty of soap for at least 20 seconds of scrubbing.

I may have gone overboard but the baby was still so little! And I was home alone with them most of the time so it was exhausting. But the rest of us stayed healthy so worth it.

My daughter got the norovirus at 6 weeks old. We were hosting Christmas and 8 of the 11 people in our house got it. I had even left our house and stayed with other family to try to avoid exposure but it was too late. She puked once and we called her pediatrician immediately, who advised us to bring her to the children's emergency room if she puked a second time. Fortunately, she didn't need to go to the ER but just wanted to throw it out there that the loss of fluid can be pretty significant when they are so small so the threshold for bringing them in with stomach bugs is pretty low. Hope your LO stays healthy!

Are you nursing? DS1 and I got a stomach bug when DS2 was just a couple months old. Miraculously he did not get it. DS1 only threw up a couple times but I think I threw up for 24 hours straight. And I was solo parenting so I couldn’t bleach anything until I could actually stand without vomiting.

Ugh, I've also been there. DS threw up for the second time in his life the night after he met 2-day old DD in the hospital (he was 4). Luckily she didn't catch anything.

I agree with @Lbee:'s tips (I love the shower tip - I hadn't thought of that one!) - we got special cleaning spray that contains hydrogen peroxide (Clorox Hydrogen Peroxide), which is the kind of spray that kills norovirus. We also got a box of gloves, and DH (bless him, he did all the clean up so I wouldn't get exposed) wore them whenever dealing with clean up. He literally scrubbed the entire apartment down with the spray (everything in the bathroom, door handles, whatever could be scrubbed).

Plus keep in mind that norovirus can live in poop for something crazy like 2 weeks. Stay extra vigilant with hand washing after using the bathroom/changing diapers etc. Maybe use those gloves for diaper changes too!

Hang in there, and congratulations on your new little one!

Been there. It was miserable. The first 8 weeks of my LO2's life my LO1 was the sickest he's ever been.

A few things:
1. Research suggests that some hand sanitizers don't kill noroviruses, and neither do regular Lysol or Clorox disinfectant wipes. It was recommended that we wash anything that came in contact with stomach issues with a little bit of bleach in the wash. They also said to run a bleach wash after washing anything with vomit / poop on it because subsequent clothes can be infected.
2. Norovirus usually travels fecal-oral. If you are doing group baths you need to discontinue that ASAP. (as an aside group baths sounds sketchy) - our doctor said that you can have remaining fecal matter that isn't totally clean and when washing faces with bath water you can infect. Yuck! We now have the rule that if anyone is sick we do showers.
3. If you are nursing your baby should be fairly protected. I'd love to say the LO2 didn't get the norovirus, but she did. However, it wasn't bad at all for her comparatively and she only threw up once.

Hang in there!!

DS1 threw up for the first time in his entire life last week (when DS3 was 1 week old). DS1 is almost 4, so he did a good job of keeping his hands washed, staying away from the baby, etc. He only threw up the once and no one else got sick so we considered it a win.

Then last night, exactly one week later, I checked on DS2 and found he got sick all over his crib. He threw up 8 more times (or more. DH was up all night with him and lost track). He is drinking a little pedialyte and eating crackers and acting 100% normal.

I’m going back and forth between panicking 2 week old DS3 will get sick...or just being resigned to the fact that everyone has been thoroughly exposed by now anyways. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t know what I’m really looking for by posting here. Tips to keep us healthy? Commiseration? Just someone to feel sorry for us? Haha
