@erwoo: Just as a point of clarification, the blogger wrote this:

3.DON’T bring a baby car seat on board unless your baby truly LOVES the seat and just wants to hang out there ALL THE TIME.

At the end of the day, what each person does is up to them, but I think it's important to recognize that just because something is allowed doesn't mean it is the most safe option.

@looch: Same, that was the one point I disagreed on.

Thanks for posting this, @erwoo: ! We're taking our 9 month old to Disney next month, and I'm a pretty big wreck about it right now lol!

@looch: I think some parents just don't find it necessary if they have older kids (and travelling with multiple kids) to bring car seats for each child due to the amount of things they already have to bring. And from the looks of it she has three boys. I flew overseas (24+ hours) by myself once with my oldest when he was 10 months old and then twice (also 24+ hours) with both of my boys in the last year and if I had to lug around a car seat with me I would have gone crazy and would not have had arms to carry it. So it just really depends. If I was travelling with a young infant who couldn't sit up or doesn't have good neck control I would for sure find a way to bring an infant car seat on board for his safety. :)

Oh, I absolutely disagree with the point about skipping the car seat if your child has a purchased seat.

I've been meaning to post about my experience flying overseas alone on a 24+ hour flight with two kids (then 18 months and almost 4.5-years-old) and a dog on board, but time just got away from me and my life has been pretty wild and crazy since our move to Asia...even 8 months later!

Anyway, I randomly saw this blog just now about travelling with kids and this mom (and also the CEO of a company) has great recommendations. I thought I would share b/c I've seen a few moms asking about recommendations here and there. There are a lot of things that she did that I also did, maybe except for packing light. We were moving overseas so I had to carry our dog in a carrier and lug around a roller board with important documents, a laptop, etc. in addition to the two lightweight LeSportsac bags that I used to pack the kids stuff. Normally, I would only bring those two bags.

Hope this helps your travels with your kid(s)!
