I was definitely not one.of the lucky ones who lost the weight by only breastfeeding. I was still 17 pounds over when ds was 9 months old. I was so nervous to eat less while breastfeeding or work out too much. Plus winter and going back to work left me with little time to really work out much.

I'd focus on eating healthy low cal meals and snacks. I use my fitness pal to track what I'm eating. If you add 300 calories to the target daily calories, you should be fine. If you workout, eat most of the calories burned too, to make sure you're getting enough.

My supply tanked at 7 months but wasn't due to weightloss efforts. I ended up switching to formula before I really started losing weight. Just be cautious and monitor your milk output. And don't worry about it too much.

Watch what you eat -portion sizes, not too much junk or processed stuff- and do some exercise. I found it didn't effect my supply but zapped my energy if I did too much. I ran (only 30 min) and did weights. I'm 8 lbs lighter than pre preg, 10 months later.

I'm in the same boat as @Mrs. Bee. Even well before the restricted diet for DS's allergies and well before maternity leave ended, I was back to and under my prepregnancy weight by doing nothing and eating whatever I wanted. Breastfeeding alone burns a ton of calories.

@Mrs. Bee: After hearing how much Olive eats, I can see how you lost it ;-)

So far I've only lost 17 lbs... I have another 20 to lose. Actually, I just want to tone up and look decent in a bikini by the time we go to Orlando in June. That's about 5 months pp so I'll see what happens!

I eat healthy but never count calories and I eat whenever I'm hungry but I exercise pretty intensely and never had a problem. Definitely drink enough water though.

I did insanity and it didn't effect my supply at all. I also watch what I eat and try to make healthier choices. I tend not to obsess over my caloric intake (so I make healthy low cal choices, but don't count calories).
I go running, I've done insanity, I also do some of those DVD's by Lindsay Brin (the postnatal boot camps), and I've done some p90x. None of that has effected my supply, and I'm 2 pounds below prepregnancy weight at 5.5months postpartum. However my body isn't the same...I'm still working on toning back up to get back to where I was.

@BabyBoecksMom: Just make sure you drink tons of water! I did modified versions of a lot of the moves. Didn't do all the jumps and couldn't do a lot of the floor exercises because my wrists hurt SO much the first few months.

@chopsuey119: I was thinking about doing the Insanity, but I was afraid that it would be too high intensity and would burn too many calories (that would eventually take away from making breastmilk). But if you've done it and you're a master breastfeeder, I'm going to try it too!

Watch your caloric intake.. I forget how many extra calories you need (somewhere between 3-500). And drink lots of water. I would start light exercise if you're past 6 weeks pp. I did Jillian's 30 day shred and did some Insanity too.
The weather's getting nice so walking is always good exercise!
