@Banana: My LO has recently started popping off so that she can blow bubbles and smile at me before she pops back on. :)

I use a nursing cover and sometimes a nursing necklace. Usually works! My DD gets really distracted too. Sometimes she'll pop off the boob and smile, while milk squirts everywhere. AHHH!!

Thanks ladies. It is so funny how she just became a distracted little baby literally overnight. The blanket over her head in a quiet room seems to work a little bit but I am still struggling to get her focused enough to latch on. Will keep trying. I hope it is just a phase and it will pass without my supply taking a hit. I'd be so sad if just her being distracted were to derail our breastfeeding!

Have you tried singing while nursing? This helped us quite a bit.

Your LO is likely more efficient at nursing, so she may not need as much time as she used to in order to get a full belly. :)

Also, it may not be possible to get her to go back on, despite a nursing cover and/or darkened, calm/quiet room. If she needs to eat more, she may add a feeding.

All in all, I am sure she is getting what she needs!

The main tips I've heard are nursing in a darkened quiet room where there's limited distractions for her, although I'm sure she'll find something :)

You can wear a nursing cover or throw a blanket over her head and over your shoulder, so then she has nothing else to look at but focus on eating.

LO is almost 13 weeks and in the last four days has become very distracted while nursing. Total nursing time during the day is down by about 1/3. She unlatches and wants to look around or smile and talk to me, and then refuses to go back on. I took her to the dr. today just to make sure and she said she looked perfectly healthy otherwise. She is still sleeping ok, but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to keep her focused?
