@coacheswife123: honestly? I would be too scared to eat it.
I gave E 2oz of formula with milk in it.
He reacted well.
So, for dinner, I gave him another 2oz and the next day.
After that, I was convince he was OK so I started having dairy again. We've been good ever since!

I wanted to keep my breast milk untainted invade he has a bad reaction, I'd still have good milk in me. Plus, one cup of milk may not be enough to test, yet anything more, might take too long to get out of your system.

I was told to try baked cheese first so I went & ate some Mexican food... because I greatly missed it! lol I ate dairy 2 days in a row & if we didn't see a reaction I cleared us as okay.... P was always okay the first day, it wasn't usually until late into the 2nd day that she'd start reacting.

@travellingbee: allegedly that is when the "open gut" closes and their digestive systems are more mature and can handle it. my LO was fine with it after 6 months.

We never had a strong sensitivity but I started with it as an ingredient (bread with butter in it) and then slowly went for other products. Not sure how to help with the pumping situation, sorry!

I would personally introduced dairy directly to him. Because then your milk is clean (it can take a while to clear out of you). I would start with processed dairy (cheese, yogurt or something with milk cooked in it). These are easier to digest. Start off with just one snack or meal and wait at LEAST 24 hours. Then try two servings. I always found that the first day was fine but once we got a bunch of dairy in him, he would react like crazy. So don't go over board too fast. Even if he can tolerate one serving that means you can vary your meals.

This is what we did when we introduced dairy.

I'd like to know too, since I'm also off dairy for LO. Why 6 months for reintro?

I started with things that had dairy ingredients and did that for a week or two before actually, like, drinking milk or whatever. That was what our doc recommended....

So - our ped said I can try to reintroduce dairy when LO is 6 mo old which will be this Sunday.

How did you reintroduce? What did you start with?

I was thinking about just having a glass of milk one day and see how that affects him?

Any tips would be appreciated!

OH - and now that I am EP he rarely gets "fresh" milk from me. I usually pump and put in the fridge and he usuallyd rinks the milk from the previous day first. So - for example - he's drinking milk from the 17th today, not the milk that I pumped on the 18th. At the end of the day I freeze whatever is left because my milk only stays good in the fridge for 2 days. Does that make sense?

So - I'm wondering how to do this. If I have some dairy on Saturday he probably wouldn't drink that milk until Sunday so I probably wouldn't see how he reacted until Monday? Is there a better way or should I just label the bottles after I have dairy and see how he reacts after having them?

confusing...
