Thanks for all the the advice! They are the easy@home tests. I guess I'll probably just start out with doing one test before work and one test after work, and see what my body does. Is ovulation supposed to occur 24-72 hours after the first positive or the last positive, if you get two solid positives in a row.

Before I had DS1 I had a really short LH surge - if I didn't test multiple times a day, I missed the surge. Since then I seem to have a more standard length surge. I don't see any harm in testing 2x a day so I would do that.

It is hard to know what you will need because some people can get a positive all day long or even over a couple days but some people can only get a positive during certain times of day for a short period of time. If you got the cheap ones, I'd start off by trying 2x per day. Hopefully after one cycle, you can figure out if you actually need to continue testing 2x or if you can just go down to one. I usually just tested in the morning and it was fine, but some people need to do afternoon (I never did b/c I don't like testing at work). If you do it twice, I'd just go for whatever is easiest to start (maybe when you get up and then evening).

For me it doesn't matter what time I test. They tend to be positive for about a day. The test line darkens but is still lighter than the control the day before I get a positive (before that it is very faint and looks the same throughout the month), and fades out the day after. I also haven't found that I need to hold my urine for four hours beforehand, but I try not to drink that much before testing.

Good luck!

I always tested when I woke up in the morning, and then would sometimes again right when I got home from work. Like @pawprints said, I didn't do it twice a day every day, but on the days it appeared I was close to getting a positive.

Near the end, I was using the digital ones and *loved* them. But yeah, they're hard on a budget.

I bought the easy@home ovulation tests from Amazon (I think they are wondfos). I start out testing around 12pm on cycle day 9 or 10 and as I get closer to when I think I may ovulate I then start testing at 12pm and also again at around 6 or 7pm to make sure I catch the LH surge. I also try not to pee for a couple hours or drink too much water before testing, which is annoying since I usually drink tons of water throughout the day!

I've only used these OPKs for 2 months now though, about to go into month 3 of using them, but they are a little tricky since it's hard to determine if the test line is really as dark as it needs to be in order to be positive. Last month I used the clearblue advanced digital tests as well and that was helpful since it shows a smiley face when you are about to ovulate so there isn't any guessing involved. I think I prefer them, but they are more expensive.

Good luck!

Hold your pee for at least 4 hours before you do the test. I always did it as soon as I got home from work in the early evening (I wasn't going to do it at work). It really isn't necessary to test 2x/day but some people choose to do that when they see the strips start to get darker so they can pinpoint ovulation. Once a day will give you a very close idea though, and then your temping will tell you exactly which day you ovulated (after the fact).

Usually when I ovulate, they are positive no matter what time. I would get an almost positive in the morning and by the evening it would turn positive, then be positive for the next day before fading out- so it's not like I had to test twice not to miss it- I just did test twice sometimes because I had so many tests.. They were very easy to use but I've heard they don't work for everyone.

I'm going to be starting my 3rd month TTC after this period and I bought an OPK kit from Amazon . I was wondering if any of you ladies have tips on how to use them. I've heard that the best time to test is between 10am and 2pm. Should I also be testing twice a day? Once in the morning and once in the afternoon? Any help is greatly appreciated.
