Sawyer had a 3 month bottle strike, which just ended this week (YAY).

To get him back on the bottle, I started by sitting him up in his bumbo chair and spoon fed him breast milk, to make getting the milk fun (he did like it), then I used a fast flow nipple (so he didn't have to work hard) and snuck the bottle on him while he was distracted and not too hungry (an hour after feeding, and yes, I let him watch TV while I gave him the bottle). He took a few ounces that way, and we repeated that a few times. Now he is taking an EBM bottle top up every night at bedtime. I have a hair appointment wednesday, so we will see how the bottle goes for DH!

I was just going to suggest @Mrs. Jacks: blog post. That really helped DH and I get LO to take the occasional bottle.

We often let her graze when I'm away for a while because it's easier than fighting with her. So if she takes 1oz, then waits 45minutes and takes another oz, we don't stress to much about it.

I am in the middle of this too. I am most bothered by how much of the pumped stash has been wasted because of the bottle strike and poor DH trying one new trick after another.

Currently I'm on the path to training sippie cup instead. (also not going well) Sippie cup without the valve thingy is too fast, and with the valve thingy is way too hard to suck out (even I tried drinking from it: it's tricky). So, now I wonder, after trying all different bottles and nipples and failing, am I going to be foolish enough to go around collecting sippie cups to try?

We had pretty good luck with the Comotomo bottle. She definitely took that better than the Dr Brown bottles we had previously been using. The Husband also fed her in the bouncer, not holding her, and that seemed to help.

Thanks for the tips! She's taken about two ounces a day from a bottle until today. She took two ounces sitting this morning with a white noise machine on. About an hour ago though she took five ounces with no distractions but I had to lay her on the Boppy pillow as if I was breastfeeding. So we're going to let her take the bottle on the Boppy for a couple of days and then try to slowly raise her up to at least a position we can comfortably give her a bottle in if we go out to eat or something. She took probably another ounce after the bottles by breastfeeding (an estimate, I'm not sure of course but she didn't nurse for long). So we'll keep working on it and try to always give her a few bottles a day to keep her in the habit.

Also, unfortunately I was the only one here to work on the bottles this weekend. My husband is sick and my MIL who would have come over to help me out since he's been so sick was on vacation with my BIL and SIL at the beach (a vacation we were set to go on until DH got so sick).

i'm going through this right now and olive is almost 1! even though she's had one almost every day since she was born, she still hates the bottle.

the first time she rejected it was after christmas when she was 4 months old, and ultimately it's just persistence and having someone other than mom give the bottle. the comotomo bottles also worked for us.

she's rejecting bottles again after our recent travels, and i'm not sure what to do since she's close to weaning age anyway....

here is a guide i wrote about it:

Even at a year old my daughter still has preferences for bottles. Its a pain to have to try a bunch, but it might be the solution. Also, a lot of time the expensive bottles are not the best!

I went through this, All I can say is be persistent, and give her the bottle at the same time everyday, and also try different bottles and nipples. My LO used to drink fine out of avent bottles then after a break from bottles she refused them completely, she wouldnt drink out of any silicone nipples for over a month and only liked the latex orthodontic nipples by playtex

My LO used to be able to take a bottle just fine as recently as three weeks ago. She took a couple last weekend when I had to be away but it was a battle. The doctor recommended trying to get her to drink one every night to get her used to it but we've tried everything and she just won't take it. This is an issue because she gets upset when I'm away for more than 30-45 minutes (like for my doctor's appointment Monday). Any tips?
