Sleep, outdoor time, and exercise help us the most! We have 6 months of winter so it's so hard up here 😣

@Corduroy: Yeah, I forgot to mention that he's 5 months old, so he's got his hands in his mouth all day long. Then he touches another kid, a toy, etc...I'll try to wash his hands when we get home and change into PJs as was suggested above. That honestly hadn't occurred to me at his age. I'll also look into elderberry! Haven't heard of that.

I don't even try to combat daycare germs. The kids are so gross with each other all day long. I do try to limit germ exposure to the kids at daycare. We do last minute health reports with friends and family before getting together to avoid adding to the unavoidable germs. Our winters aren't bad so we spend a lot of time outdoors instead of at playplaces.

On the other side of my germ spectrum at the first sign of vomit I'm practically doing a hazmat cleanup. I still have yet to prevent norovirus from taking us all down but that's a fight I'm willing to fight.

Hang in there! It really does get better! Some of the things we do:

- Elderberry (syrup/gummy)
- EO (we use a immunity boom & germ destroyer blend)
- Change clothes/wash hands as soon as they get home
- Disinfect home surfaces/toys regularly

Everything @cake2017: said. Nightly baths and immediate hand-washing, I run all the kid cups and lunch things through the dishwasher on sanitize mode every night, I wipe down all our door handles and car/carseat handles and buckles every few days with lysol wipes. We don't change into new clothes upon returning home because I like doing dinner followed by bath and clean jammies and I don't want to double my laundry load, but that's just us. I think beyond that, you can drive yourself kind of crazy being paranoid about germs, so I try to just do these things and then not think about it too much more.

Most of all adequate sleep, which it's awesome that you are now getting! Yay for STTN, it's my religion :)

I agree with all of the above. The only thing I'll add is that I have my kids change out of their school clothes as soon as they get home in the hopes that any germs there won't spread to other parts of our house and especially their beds (they go straight to nap after morning preschool).

I don't have any miracle fixes but we do take vitamins and elderberry syrup. I also use Clorox Healthcare Hydrogen Peroxide disinfectant wipes. When crud is rampant, we take baths as soon as we get home and put jammies on.

I was also a little crazy about daycare toys...when a ball pit showed up, I asked them how they planned to de-germ it. It didn't last long.

ETA: also, prioritizing sleep!!

I honestly just think trying to eat right, sleep enough and wash hands is all you can do.

I feel like its gonna be hit or miss if you/your LO's get stuff!

Last year was terrible for us... lots of sickness and I missed a LOT of days but so far this year (knock on wood) zero sickness but I know a lot of people who've been hit hard already. So I think it just depends....

Good luck.. Hope you all get better asap. ANd maybe next year none of you will get sick!

My toddler goes to a preschool. We get alerts for the serious illnesses that may be going around. Also, the school is very very good about disinfecting toys and cleaning the room every day.

I have my Lo wash his hands right when he gets home. ( I assist). I also give a bath and change his clothes. I take all his nap bedding and toys home weekly and wash them.

I also wash his water cups daily.

I wash my hands- take a multi vitamin (prenatal right now b/c nursing), probiotic and drink plenty of water and orange juice.

i’m never sick and my Lo hasn’t been catching much but maybe the usual cold here and there but it’s minor. He had the stomach bug but none of us got it

I also lysol and wipe down his toys at home and common areas in our house every couple of days

Hi, all! I'm curious if there are tips and tricks you used to try to stay healthy(er) when your LOs started daycare. I know it's normal to get sick a lot, but I seem to be really struggling with catching every tiny thing. My DS recently had croup and a fever virus back to back, and lo and behold, I know have the adult form of croup. It's the end of the year and vacay is slim and I'm out of sick leave. What did you do to help boost your immune system during this time? (I'm EPing fwiw.)

(PS totally unrelated but I've panic-posted before about my LO's sleep and I just have to shout that HE IS A VERY GOOD SLEEPER NOW! WOOOTTTTT!! I'm such a proud mama every time he STTN in his crib! :silly: )
