@hilsy85: yea the third nap is tough sometimes, but usually a little boob knocks her out lol, if not, I pop her in the stroller and that works too. She has been napping around 8:30/9am for 1.5 hrs, 1pm for 1.5 hrs, and then a quick 30/45 min nap around 5/5:30. I don't let her nap past 6 tho. It's been working great the last few nights, which surprised me. Today she even slept in til 7:30 and she hasn't done that in forever! Prob shouldn't have let her bc now our schedule is thrown off but I wanted to sleep in lol

@tinyperson: I have no suggestions, only empathy. LO is in our room too, and while she used to sleep in later in our bed, no longer. I was up again at 5 today.

Thanks everyone...the added problem in the mix is that her crib is still in our room. DH gets up at 6:15, so I know if LO wakes up at 5:30, I could spend half an hour getting her back to sleep, only to have her wake up again in 15 minutes.

We're heading to the in laws next week, and once we get back, we're moving her crib to her room. Maybe that'll help!

@NovBaby1112: my Lo is the same!! We've also been trying to do 3 naps and a later bedtime but he fights that 3rd nap? When do you try to wake your Lo up from her 3rd nap by?

We went through this phase for awhile around 5-7 months...even after we sleep trained she was still waking bright and early (anytime between 5 and 5:45), 6 was sleeping in! We started not getting her out of her crib before 6. She would never really cry, just play in there. I think it was a combo of being a phase and me just realizing she wasn't one of those babies who needed 12 hours of overnight sleep. She is more of a 10-11 hours baby, but naps about 3-4 hours a day. So what we started doing was putting her to bed later, like 8/830, and she has been sleeping in until 630/7 with that bedtime. She is now back to 3 naps a day with the later bedtime when we were at 2 naps with the earlier bedtime, but it is working for us now

Hmm... We're going through one of those phases again. I typically just bring her to bed and nurse side-lying and hope she goes back to sleep. I do think, as with most things, time is the best trick, and she will figure it out eventually.

@edelweiss: she takes a pacifier, but at that point in the morning it doesn't put her back to sleep. It just quiets her for 5-10 minutes until she spits it out...

@Kemma: she won't sleep in our bed. Like the others, she just plays for a while, then gets fed up and cries. If this is a phase, it's a long one!

we have been dealing with this off and on for several weeks--there was 1 week where he was consistently getting up around 4.30 (1 hour before his normal wakeup time). i looked up some previous threads and people say it's a phase, but as to how long this phase lasts, who knows!

oddly, there was one time where i looked on the monitor and saw that his arm was stuck in the slats. so i went in, quickly moved him and left (soothing/rocking/etc. doesn't work with him). he cried harder for about a minute and then oddly, went back to sleep.

would a pacifier work?

sorry i'm no help, but i empathize!

@hilsy85: same. if we bring L to bed with us, she thinks its time to play!

I also have this issue, Lo is often up at 530--not cool! Bedsharing doesn't work for us as he wants to play once r gets into bed with me. I'm hoping its just a phase!

Have you tried bed-sharing with her from when she wakes up?

If my LO wakes up after 0530 but before 0700 I can often nurse back to sleep and crawl back in to bed with her.

Does anyone have any tips/tricks for getting a 6 month old to sleep past 5am?

LO sleeps from 6:30 or 7 till anywhere between 4:30 and 6:30 with 1-2 feedings. Getting to 6:30 has been unheard of lately.

I've tried feeding her and putting her back down, rocking her, soother, letting her cry and combinations of those. She either laughs and kicks her feet for a while then cries or just cries.

She's tired less than 2 hours later. If I put her to bed later, she'll sleep longer, but it's usually the same number of hours. Also her last nap ends 4 or 4:30, and she's tired and cranky by bedtime, so pushing it back is hard.
