Oh gosh, we are in the thick of it too. L is doing all this and it's making me crazy! I may just have to admit defeat and go with whatever works in the first few months. Sounds like a much more sane route. I was at our 6 week check up today and brought it all up with my doctor and she said that is exactly what it is. Growth spurt!

Does a swing help?
Madeline took all of her naps in the swing at that point. What about the car or the stroller? I was doing whatever it took to get her to sleep at that point. Weeks 3, 4, and 5 were the worst for us in terms of fussiness and naps.

He is coming up on his first wonder week, so it could be that. The "peak of fussiness" is 6 weeks. Or a growth spurt. Or any host of things. If you really think it's gas I've heard the Windi (spelling?) is good. Same company as the nosefrida I think. Or could be a dietary thing..

I too would go by the "whatever works" mentality...

Ugh...at that point, I think we did a lot of LO sleeping in my arms/on DH's chest when she wouldn't stay asleep in the crib. I went by "for the first 2 months, do whatever works/you can't spoil a newborn" and it helped keep my sanity. And I watched lots of TV while she slept. And the 6 week growth spurt was fussy, fussy torture for us, just a possible heads up.

DS is struggling to stay sleep/sleep contently the past few days. He's 1 month today. He's tired and his eyes get all droopy, then they'll close. 5 minutes later - they're wide open and he's super fussy and begins crying. After calming him down, he'll drift back off to sleep, but 5 minutes later... Rinse and repeat.

We thought it was gas issues so we got him some gas drops, but that doesn't seems to make things any better. Any ideas on what's going on and what I can do to help him sleep better??
