@locavore_mama: one other thought is that the asian supermarkets (especially H Mart) have smaller forks. Sometimes too small, though.

We've been using these for the last 1.5 years. They hold up well!

@T-Mom: haha that was my other thought; tasting forks! I saw them at Le Gourmet Chef the one day but they were all out of forks!

I'm pretty happy with any toddler fork we've gotten, including Gerber, oxo, ikea. But now that I think about it, I think I reach for the Gerber ones the most!

@locavore_mama: Have you tried Target? These look nice and under $20 for 12. http://www.target.com/p/libbey-just-tastings-12-piece-fork-set/-/A-14297227

I'm kind of wondering the same thing. The Take and Toss ones don't pierce anything.

ETA: Amazon has amazing reviews of the Gerber Graduates ones....hmmm.

I think we had the Gerber forks too, the ones with the rubber coated handles?

We prefer the smaller salad/dessert forks, though.

We use Gerber utensils. The metal pronged fork is the perfect size for LO.

I let her use our smaller "dessert/salad" forks. In reality I am searching for stainless steel, plain, non plastic handle toddler sized forks that don't cost $20. IKEA has a great set if they're near you!

What kind of utensils does your toddler use?

My kids are now interested in using utensils at 14 months, particularly forks. We have the take and toss plastic ones, but they're pretty difficult for the kids to pierce the food themselves, which leaves me bouncing from chair to chair stabbing food for them. Nervous about giving them metal prongs, but maybe that's what they need? Or maybe it's just a phase hip they master the stabbing part themselves? Other ideas? Thanks!
