I'm going to play it by ear, see how DH is feeling & how I'm feeling when the time comes. Last month it felt like we forced it to happen. DH hurt so bad it was not enjoyable for either of us, of course he wouldn't admit it. Don't tell Dh but I kinda felt like the man in the situation. Like he was the one saying its time to do it & I was the one going ugh do we have to?! Plus I don't want to hear my doctor say, "your not going to be making any babies if your doing it like that.", again!

@MrsCastro: the "what if" is exactly how I feel about it. Right after my cycle ends I'm SO over trying again but once O starts peeking er head around the corner again I'm game.

I agree with @MrsCastro. If we skipped, I'd contantly be like "what if that was supposed to be the cycle" plus since we want a baby and aren't KU yet I feel like we should give it every chance we can.

I tried to take a break, and sorta did, from jan to feb - but still charted. Honestly, it was nice and stress-free, but i was really just kind of anxious to get back into it.

Once the TTC begins, it's so hard to stop or skip a month! Hoping that you can see what's best for you right now before O gets here

There were times right after a cycle ended that I considered taking a break, but then in the 2 weeks it took to get back to ovulation time, I was ready and glad I hadn't put it off. But a lot of people find value in taking some time off so they can kind of recharge.

If you are going to chart maybe take this month as a month to still DTD , but try to spice it up and make more fun not just business. That way you won't stress over knowing you O'd and didn't do anything, but you aren't putting so much pressure on your self this cycle. Good luck!

@Sugar.Biscuit: enjoy that donut and coffee. I ate a healthy breakfast in hopes it would end my donut craving, but no such luck. Gotta go get one.

I hope you can trust your gut when deciding whether you should pause from TTC or keep on going, then hold tight to trusting you made the right decision for that time!

Oh man. I been in your situation in the past. We just started our TTC break so that I can start the job hunt. I really want to keep trying but in the end I realized that my emotional well being is probably better. I'm not exactly happy at work and want to find another job. What it came down to was that if I got pregnant, I would have to suffer (ok, a little dramatic) at my job for at least another 9 months. I don't know if I would want to deal with work stress while pregnant. Plus, emotionally, I need to take a break from all the disappointing last couple of months.

Dealing with IF, I, too, see the urgency in 'not missing a cycle' but I think in your case and my case, you want to make sure you are thinking clearer and less stressed.

Yeah, I don't know if you are thinking this but I know I am. In the back back of my mind, I think what if this cycle is the cycle I would have gotten pregnant on. That's what kills me. I guess I have a little faith that I haven't gotten pregnant in the last year, I doubt I would have gotten pregnant this month.

The month we stopped *trying* was the month I got my BFP. Definitely give yourself a complete break-no charting-and just enjoy your DH. :)

I'd keep charting, honestly. I know you want to take a break, but having those records can be really important. I had 4 years of charts to take to my acupuncturist, he noted some really interesting things in all that data.

Good luck!

I agree with Pui, stop charting! Its hard to keep your mind off TTC if you have a chart to keep analyzing. I stopped this month because I needed a mental break too. Hang in there, it WILL happen for you!

Are you charting? I think you'll drive yourself crazy if you continue to chart and track your cycle while taking a TTC break! I think if you are going to take a break from it, you'll need to stop charting too.

I said it some where that I was strongly considering taking a break from TTC & was currently taking a mental break from it. That in a few weeks when O would be approaching that I would probably change my mind. Well O should happen a week from today & I told DH last night to rest up so we can start DTD next week. Even as I said it I questioned it.

Having kids is our long term goal and whether we get pregnant this month or a few years from now it won't matter if we do the deed this month or next. Then there is the part of me that says DONT. MISS. A. CYCLE. Its taken this long who knows how much longer it will take. Then again maybe its God's plan we skip a cycle.

UGH the mind games we play with ourselves! I'm sure come next week Ill be all about timing and obsessed with TTC again. For now I'm going to go get a donut & some coffee. Thanks for the Donut or Dougnut post earlier lol.
