@Ecogirl! I would not feel bad for saying something. I think its good you did! She was out of line and could have kept her opinion to herself! I LOL'd when I read what you said, and I am glad you said something because that was just RUDE of her.

I've never thought anything about it (I guess I assumed that Charlotte from SATC made it "ok" for me-- LOL, real scientific, I know), but I would have SNAPPED too, if someone said something to me.

I am an occasional runner and I know I will want to keep it up if and when I eventually get pregnant. I think as long as your doctor says it's okay, it's obviously fine! I can't believe that woman had the audacity to yell at you like that and I probably would have screamed something back at her as well, no judgement here!!

Thank you everyone :) I am 7 months right now but I just don't carry very big so I still feel good running. I ran with Liam until my 8th month so I am hoping I can do the same. I now feel very guilty about saying something :(

@ecogirl: Some people!!!

I think I had plenty of gawkers, but no one ever said anything to me. I did have plenty of comebacks in my head in case someone would try it. I think you did the right thing about saying something to her - maybe she'll think twice before she makes a comment on something that's not her business.

A lot of people are stuck in the mindset that you're not supposed to do anything physical while pregnant, when in actuality, it's healthy for you and the baby if you continue to some sort of a workout (easier labor, healthier weight for mom and baby....).

I've been running my whole pregnancy and just this week (36 weeks), and I realized I'm finally to the point where it's just too uncomfortable. But I'm going to continue to walk - just do *something* because it makes me feel soooo much better when I do.

Everyone has different comfort levels with different things. I personally feel uncomfortable when I see pregnant women in really high heels, I feel worried they may fall over, especially when its icy. I dont say anything to them but I can't help thinking it.
I've never seen a visibly pregnant woman running before so I might stare too.

@ecogirl: Why can't people mind their own business! How far along are you? I say, good for you. I was a casual runner pre-pregnancy (ran 3-4 times a week and 3-4 miles at a time) and continued to jog through my first trimester (when I was not looking pregnant). Surprisingly, my father kept begging me not to run. I just brushed him off and said my doctor says it's fine! Then I got really busy at work and my workouts decreased. At 18 weeks, I am doing mostly elliptical (but not because I can't run, just because I'm feeling lazy!) but since I have the coming week off, I do plan to get some jogs in.

I ran with two dogs through most of my pregnancy. One time two ladies in a car were loudly discussing as I ran past, I couldn't figure if they were disapproving or impressed so I just smiled and pretended like they were impressed. The other weird time was when a college kid stopped so our dogs could play and I had to explain it was a bit uncomfy for me to have my dog trying to chase his since I was due tomorrow. He looked at me like I had three heads but I think just cause he had no idea I was even pregnant, very unobservant college kids.

@Chopsuey119 I told her maybe she should toss the fast food and move her ass right along with me. I know that wasn't very nice but I was very angry. :(

@ecogirl: I ran for the first few months of pregnancy, but stopped when I started bleeding/spotting. I know running had nothing to do with it, but it just made me feel really uncomfortable.
I wanna know what you said to that woman!!

I saw a lady that looked at least 8 months pregnant running in a race. And she was kicking butt! My reaction was jealousy, she's obviously in good shape and that has to be great for the baby!

Yup...I would get gawkers all the time. I remember telling people "I'm pregnant...not an invalid." I think for the longest time pregnant people were told to do nothing and now that is changing and some people have a hard time realizing that.

Haha I wouldn't mind the stares as much I suppose if that was all. I could not believe how rude she was to even insinuate that I was hurting my child. Meanwhile she had a bag of fast food in her hand :) I guess I'm lucky that my girls are little even while 7 months pregnant haha! :)

Well, you will get gawkers at anything you do that looks physically intense while your pregnant. You will have people say you shouldn't be in heels while your pregnant or that you shouldn't be doing heavy exercises or you shouldn't lift heavy things. I can't run. My girls are too large to allow that and not even a $150 sports bra keeps them secure enough to go running, but I did walk a lot while pregnant and got a lot of looks. People, I think, think that you are going to fall over or something.

I have to admit, I've never seen a pregnant woman jogging so I might stare but I wouldn't yell anything out. lol

I still like to run while pregnant and have enjoyed the benefits of that. If I get one more look while running I think I'll scream haha :) I just took advantage of this great night and had a run. A woman yelled to me as I was passing You are going to hurt your baby! and I stopped in my tracks. I could not believe the audacity. I marched up to her and said something I may not be very proud of and finished my run. I would love to know why people cannot seem to mind their own business. I am steaming mad right now! Does anyone else deal with gawkers while you try to run? What do you say to them?
