We are having a sick day today and did this! My LO is 2.

The good: she loved dropping stuff (buttons, jewels, beads) into the water. We used food colouring in ours too, which was a hit.

The bad: I wish I could find the googly eyes. That would have been fun.

The ugly: not really anything except we just moved on to the next thing pretty quick. I don't know if they have much entertainment power for her. Me, on the other hand..... I'm enjoying the one with the plastic dinosaur a lot.

I decided to make them valentines day themed. I did red and silver glitter and foam heart stickers in one and purple glitter, red food coloring and oil in the other one. So far he seems interested in them. I bought some conversation hearts and I want to make a dry bottle with those.

@californiadreams: Pasta works great!

@scg00387: Maybe you could do dry ones instead, old plastic food containers like peanut butter hard could work? Looking forward to seeing your activity next week

@travelgirl1: will try this week - I don't have any water bottles though :/ I hate disposable stuff! Maybe I can find some at the library laying around. Also, I can volunteer for next week if no one else has!

I just did glitter + food coloring + water + oil

LO's Age: 14 months
The Good: LO already loves water bottles - even when they are empty. I had the supplies on hand. It was cool. She went back to it after it was abandoned.
The Bad: Since we still have short attention spans over here, she moved on quickly.
The Ugly: In an attempt to declutter my life over the years, my craft box only contains practical items right now, so I couldn't find any fun or different objects to put in another one.

LO's Age: 14.5 months
The Good: The materials were cheap to buy or I already had them and the bottles were very quick and easy to make. A liked rolling them, pretending to drink from them and shaking them. You can get super creative too and add pretty much anything you like. I imagine they could keep for quite a while.
The Bad: I think she might have preferred them without water so she could hear the beads etc shaking. She wasn't bothered about the lava lamp one but I loved it, it was super pretty with the glitter. Guess that one was more for Mama :silly:
The Ugly: She did try to bite through them but, eh, she tries to bite through everything

Hey guys!

Following on from @rawrasaur: and her fab activity last week, we made some sensory bottles today!

Same as last week, if you make them please feel free to let us know how you got on and whether your LO liked them!
Any volunteers for next week?

***********************************************************
Sensory Bottles - Sensory Activity

Materials:
Empty water bottles (I used 3)
Craft materials such as pipe cleaners, beads, glitter, sequins, googly eyes, cut up foil, rice, pasta... anything you like!
Glue gun
Food colouring
Water
Funnel (optional but makes pouring easier)

Process:
Fill the bottles with water and add a variety of colours and textures to each. Screw lids back on and glue down if you're worried about your LO getting the lid off. You can also do them without the water so your LO can experiment with sounds and shaking. Let child play!

The bottles I made contained:
* Large wooden beads, pipe cleaners bent in half/scrunched into balls
* Googly eyes, small beads, sequins, pipe cleaners curled around my fingers, glitter
* Blue food colouring, vegetable oil and glitter to create a lava lamp (looks rubbish in the picture but was very pretty up close)
