She wants to hug/play/tickle/ect. with her but the soft touches just aren't always there. We tried to show her how to hug with her arms. She is able to do it better when we hold baby upright. We didn't figure that out until about month 2 so maybe that wouldn't work with a newborn. </p> <p>I also tried to make a little spot for her next to where I nurse. In the newborn days, I found it was often about trying to get in on the attention the baby was getting. When I really needed space (eg nursing), I resorted to screen time (honest if not impressive). Otherwise, I tried to include her and find ways to have her "help" take care of baby - bringing me supplies, reading a book to the baby, etc. I agree that a doll she can mother alongside you might be helpful. It's cute sometimes but it's constant and I can't even sit down to feed him without her trying to smother him in hugs, etc. I don't know how to get her to leave him be a little, maybe it's all too new and she will get bored eventually? I feel like the more we tell her "lets just leave him alone for a little" she does it more and more aggressively...</p> <p>Any tips? </p>
