We just tell dd she can touch ds' head and toes which was advice from a pp nurse. But so far we've been lucky because dd doesn't have the patience to be all over ds yet. So nervous for when dd gets sick though...

Heh, E is totally like this sometimes! I don't have any good advice because we could often redirect her and placate her with "later!"

@NovBaby1112: reuse the diapers, I would find them in her room and I had a little "baby diaper bag" that had her wipes/diapers in them...it helped keep it down!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: she does have a baby doll, I could try that and see if it helps!!

@rattles: thanks! I try to have her do tasks to help me, but she is just so hyper lately and all over her brother it's hard. I like the doll idea!

@Corduroy: that's a good idea to show her how to hug...mine does the same, leading in with her big head lol

@LuLu Mom: haha we are already going through sooo many diapers! But that might help, going to try it! Thanks!

Well we are almost 7 months in and she still gets a little overzealous toward DD2. She wants to hug/play/tickle/ect. with her but the soft touches just aren't always there. In the beginning having her copy me with her baby worked wonders (although we went through more wipes/diapers than necessary because she insisted it be real), but now that baby sister is more "fun" that doesn't work.

My LO (and maybe most) tends to hug with her heavy head leaning in. We tried to show her how to hug with her arms. She is able to do it better when we hold baby upright. We didn't figure that out until about month 2 so maybe that wouldn't work with a newborn.

I also tried to make a little spot for her next to where I nurse. She's not allowed to climb on me or baby but she can ask for books.

Mine was this way, and tbh, she's still a little over zealous sometimes. In the newborn days, I found it was often about trying to get in on the attention the baby was getting. When I really needed space (eg nursing), I resorted to screen time (honest if not impressive). Otherwise, I tried to include her and find ways to have her "help" take care of baby - bringing me supplies, reading a book to the baby, etc. I agree that a doll she can mother alongside you might be helpful. Congrats on the new little one!

IDK if this will actually work, but does she have her own life like doll that she can love on?

Could you try redirecting her enthusiasm with tasks that will "help" the baby?

My 3 yr old is slightly obsessed with her new baby brother, she is constantly all over him, wanting to touch, poke, hold, kiss him anytime she sees him. It's cute sometimes but it's constant and I can't even sit down to feed him without her trying to smother him in hugs, etc. I don't know how to get her to leave him be a little, maybe it's all too new and she will get bored eventually? I feel like the more we tell her "lets just leave him alone for a little" she does it more and more aggressively...

Any tips?
