We got dd the skip hop one at 21 months and she loves it. "Owl bag!!"
The straps slip off her shoulders a little bit but it's not a big deal.

This Landsend one looks decent:

http://www.landsend.com/products/my-first-backpack/id_269646?sku_0=::R3T

Also a lot of the outdoor companies have kiddy product lines.

I have one for my 14 month old for daycare. It's not too big. She doesn't wear it yet, though.

@Mrs. Lion: we got a skip hop bag for LO when she turned two and it has been great! I think it would work at 20 months too. We use it more for travel (trips to grandmas etc) and at first we couldn't put too many books in it, but what you described should be fine. Ours has held up well!

Does anyone have a teeny backpack for their toddler that they love? I have a pattern to make a drawstring one but I am kinda over the sewing machine at the moment and honestly just want to spend $20 (or less of course) on one instead of buying materials and putting in all the work.

Are the skip hop bags too big for a 20 month old? All it needs to hold is a diaper, change of clothes, and a water bottle for the gym/ church nursery, so it doesn't have to be very big. Google searching is failing me, as are all of the local stores I can think of (I've tried target, Walmart, buy buy baby and babies r us)

Thanks!
