We love the Skip Hop backpacks. Perfect size for a toddler and holds just the right amount of what they need. Plus they are pretty damn durable!

I got the lands end small backpacks for my girls. My tall 2.5 yo loves wearing hers. It's a little big but doable. I wanted something for daycare and this works great, fitting her lunch bag, blanket and sheet.

They had a sale last week and each bag was only $17.50 shipped including all personalization (name and patch).

Lunch bag is on the left. These are the second smallest backpacks lands end sells...there is one smaller one.

@cheert16: Yeah, I can definitely see that being an issue. I figure most of those bags are small enough that I could strap them to our other rolling suitcases or to the stroller since we still usually travel with a stroller.

@cheert16: my son will be 3 in January and I bought him a PB Kids Mackenzie Pre-K backpack on clearance. He loves it, but it doesn't fit much besides his lunchbox OR his blankets for daycare.

Just want to add FWIW - my son doesn't usually care too much one way or the other about wearing his backpack but he LOVES wheeling suitcases. Next time we plan to do some traveling I'm planning to just buy him a small wheeling suitcase/bag that fits under the airplane seat so that he can have a good time pulling it and we can also pack "real" items into it to lighten our own loads. They have some good options on amazon.

We love the Skip Hop backpacks for our LOs! They are so cute, well made, and perfectly sized. I also love how there is little pocket for a sippy cup.

Everyone I see seems to have the Skip Hop backpacks so that's an option. We have a Patagonia backpack that it doesn't look like they sell anymore (bought 2 years ago) but it is a 12L pack to give you an idea on size. He wore it to preschool when he first started, at 19 mos, and we took it on a plane trip this summer (age 3.5) and are still able to stuff it pretty full with his necessities - mostly toys, a couple books, maybe even a diaper and change of clothes. It is not large enough for school notebooks which I remember being a complaint on the reviews when we bought it, I guess people were getting them for their younger school-aged children. But if the size is reported this way on the bags you look at, 12L seems to be adequate for us.

Anyone have any input on a good toddler sized backpack? We are doing some traveling and i want my son (2.5) to be able to have his own little bag to carry his important stuff... like his Pooh Bear!
Looking for something that is kid sized so it fits him well. Thought about the LLBean Junior backpack- but not sure of the size!
