@BananaPancakes: We use the same one and have really been happy with it for the past almost 3 years. I use a spare twin size fitted sheet over the flannel cover and a toddler sized down comforter and we are set.

We have the Aerobed toddler mattress and it's been great! He had trouble sleeping on it the first time, mainly because he was just so excited, but he does wonderful on it now. We use it regularly. I highly recommend it.

Following for ideas. My 2 year old is an awful sleeper when we're on vacation! He can't handle sleeping in bed with us, just thinks it's playtime, and he also hates being in the travel crib. The air mattress seems like a good option to try.

@sometimesshesings: we had this exact same issue last weekend. dh used the pack and play and the entertainment center in the corner of the room to build an enclosed area a little bigger than pnp size. we put blankets on the floor and filled the pnp with stuff so he couldn't move it. I think he needed the security of a small space since we were away from home, even though he normally sleeps on a floor bed.

We use the Kidco travel tent for my 2.5 year old and it's great because he can't unzip himself out of it. He'll be able to use it for another year or two at least. It's so light weight and fits anywhere!

Update: he slept on the floor last night on a pad of blankets. He was really excited about it at first, but he did NOT want to stay in "bed". My husband had to stay with him on the floor until he settled enough to fall asleep. Then he woke up about an hour later and threw an epic fit. I think this had more to do with traveling than the sleep arrangement, but he did say through tears that he wanted to go home and sleep in his own bed. He's always been a good traveler, but 2.5 has been an emotional time! Wish us better luck tonight! He was happy as a clam when he woke up, so that's reassuring...

I got the inflatable toddler mattress from Walmart, I would assume the same as @travellingbee: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Intex-Toddler-Airbed-Tan/22899906

You can buy an electric pump for it separately if you need one. I inflated it using their "high output manual pump" and it wasn't /too/ bad. Definitely got a bit of a workout ;). We haven't used it yet since our vacation isn't for a few more weeks. E is just a month shy of 2yo, and still sleeps in a crib.

My son (2.5) is too big for his Pack N Play, but not ready to sleep on a raised bed. He has trouble falling asleep in bed with us, so that's not usually a good option either. Does anyone have tips for toddler sleep arrangements while traveling?
