Bought it on Wayfair.com and purposely got a bed with no footboard so that as he gets taller, his feet can hang past the end of the bed if needed. I really like the shrunks inflatable bed rails - they fit right under the fitted sheet. Instead of a mesh guard rail, I rolled up beach towels (or you could use a pool noodle) and tucked them under the fitted sheet along each side to create an anti-roll lip/barrier. Over six months, he managed to tear apart the mesh holding it together. We recently got rid of it. He doesn't fall or has since we removed it. When he visits my parents, one of the beds has them. When he gets older, we'll upgrade him to a full size bed and give his little brother his current bed. Also, did you go with a mattress and box spring or just a mattress? I'm leaning towards a full sized platform bed so that it's closer to the floor in case he falls out. Any suggestions for where to start shopping is super helpful too! :) </p>
