DD was wearing 12m stuff until she was about 18m; much of her 18m stuff is still too big in the waist but just right in the length (she's 90th for height and we just made 40% for weight at 2y check-up). However, I think with girls we have the advantage because as her 12m stuff still fit in the waist but was starting to get short we just called them crop pants and no one knew the difference; can't really do the same with boys.

Also, what is the difference between 24m and 2T?

Once DS hit 1 yr, he slowed down in growing. Some random spurts, but for the most part he has always been in "his size" clothes.

It depends on the brand and as pp's have mentioned, the pants might be too long but shirts are fine to size up. Carters tends to run small so it might be fine but they always have sales there so I might just wait to be sure ....

My son is 16 months and wears 24 months/2T in one piece things and tops but can wear as small as 12-18 months for pants because he has a skinny waist, no butt and short legs. All of his length is in his torso, which is common for infants and toddlers.

I always look for pants with the adjustable waist, the ones with the elastic and buttons on the inside, or elastic waist. I try not to buy too far ahead because stuff is always going on sale.

Oh, forgot to comment about the length of pants question. When he was 12 months, we bought him 2T pants and they fit him fine. But when he was 18 months, he didn't fit them so we had to go with 3T. So if you're preparing for next fall, I'd probably go with the 3T. You can always fold them/hem them if they're too long. I personally like the way they look when they're scrunched up on the bottom so we never folded/hemmed.

LO is 13 months old and has always been in the 95-98th% for height too. She's wearing 18-24 and some 2T stuff now. I'm pretty sure she'll stay this size for a while..? I try not to buy too far in advance, but I would probably go with 3T if I were you. You can always fold and temporarily hem pants if they're too long.

i think there is a big difference in length of pants, but not as much as shirts. charlie wears 3t shirts, but 2t pants, and even then the pants are kinda long. but he is kinda short too.

he zoomed through all the sizes and started slowing down around 18 month sizes. last summer for instance i bought 2t shorts that were too big for him, but they fit him perfectly this year so i'll get two years' wear out of them.

do you mean you want to buy 2t pants for this coming fall/winter and your lo is currently 13 months? i think that's fine!

My son was always in the 99th percentile for height and he was ALWAYS a size bigger. So at 12 months, he wore 24 months. Except for fleece footed rompers. We have to go 2 sizes on those cause those puppies shrink!

DS is 13 months old and in the 90% for height and weight. He fits into 24 month carter's onesies with room to grow. I'm expecting him to be in 2T by fall. I want to pick up some stuff on clearance, but I worry when fall comes it won't fit and I'll be out the $$. He grew super fast when he was little, and seems to have slowed a tad now. He is just now outgrowing his footie PJs from last fall (they were big then).

Once your LO hit the 1 year mark, how quickly did they move up in sizes? Think I'll be safe buying 2T for next fall/winter? Is there a huge difference between 2T and 3T, specifically with length of pants?
