She figured out how to take the strap covers by her neck off, and didn't complain for months after that, even when I immediately tightened the straps to compensate for the covers being off. I have no idea why this worked, maybe she liked the greater range of motion in her neck? And then about 4 months later she complained that the straps were too tight on her neck, so I put them back on and she was happy again. I'm pretty sure it's just that she doesn't want to sit still and she thinks they're "tight" when she tries to sit up more/wiggle. She will even change her mind mid-drive and say they're not tight, so I do think it's an empty complaint. That said, I hear you on the frustration!
