@Foodnerd81: ah, yes, I bet that's why it's longer and straighter lately. At least that's what I'm going to tell myself for now! I'm also kind of hoping LO2 will have the same hair--I'm surprised how attached to it I've become.

@PinkElephant: I like the idea of side swept bangs, I think I'll try that. Thanks!

@PinkElephant: haha I just realized that's why my daughters hair seems so long! DH and I keep talking about it- I just put her first ponytail in this week and she is 2 years 4 months! That's totally what it is not does still curl on the ends but not all the way up to her scalp. I really hope our second has the same hair, I love it so much.

@Foodnerd81: this. My girls have ringlets in the summer, but in the dry winter months only the ends are curly/wavy. Everyone is commenting the past week or so on how LONG their hair is all of a sudden.

I do a side swept bang on my 3.5 year old DD, and it works (doesn't curl) - I stumbled on a stylist who is great with kids and curls by pure luck, and we've kept him!

@hitchhiker: could it be getting less curly because it's cooler and less humid? My daughter has very fine curly hair but it's way more curly in the summer and humidity.

No other advice, although I would think someplace that specializes in kids cuts would be better at keeping her still. If she won't let you do barrettes it will probably be hard to cut?

If you love your salon definitely try taking your LO there! Bo other ideas here though. Good luck!

Until recently, my toddler's hair held curl well all over. But now, the curl seems to be falling out more. I don't know if it's because her hair is getting longer (she's 2.75 and has never had a cut) or because it's straightening out (sob!). She won't let me put barrettes or ponytails in it anymore and she looks dishevelled almost all the time. I think it's time to accept that she needs her first haircut. I'm a little terrified of the curl disappearing, but I think I'm at the point that I can handle that.

A couple of questions for parents of curly kids:
-do you take LO to a salon that specializes in curly hair? I have wavy hair, and go to a curly salon--is it crazy to take her there?
-have you ever tried bangs with moderately curly hair? Now that I can't keep barrettes in, her hair is always in her face.
-any other advice?
