@Foodnerd81: I'm with you. I try to follow the principles that I like. And then my 4 year old intentionally head buts by 17mo and I lose my shit.

@math.nerd: I don't do everything by these books, but I hear you on the good/ bad thing. My second baby is much easier than my first was and I keep hearing how "good" she is. I do correct people because my toddler is often listening in.

@Foodnerd81: 😂😂😂 this is basically me. I agree with some of her theories.

@Foodnerd81: @winniebee: @snowjewelz: Sounds like we have a winner! :-) I also like the title of her book! I always try to correct my extended family when they refer to my son as being "good" or "bad". I'm not a dictator about it, but I think hearing "he's so good" gives him license to do "bad" things and hearing "he's a bad kid" is just awful because he's usually just expressing an emotion! (mostly the emotion is "pissed off") :-)

I'm a fan of Janet Lansbury too! I listen to her podcast, audio books and read her blog!

Have you read Janet lansbury blog or listened to her podcasts? I think she would be up your ally. I agree with her in theory, then my toddler pushes my buttons like crazy and I get mad at the toddler AND Janet Lansbury.

My 28 month old is starting to show signs of "independence" (let's call it that). I was wondering if anyone out there has read any interesting books or seen any interesting approaches to discipline that you'd recommend.
I believe that right now is a critical time in developing my son's sense of right and wrong and how to behave in society and I don't want to muck it up by letting him get away with pushing my (and my husband's) buttons just because he's so young and adorable!
Things I believe in:
Acknowledging his feelings
Trying to determine the real cause of the outburst
Consequences should reflect the "crime"
That I need to be consistent and firm!

Any recommendations out there to help me navigate this stuff? Thanks!
